The US 3D release is 5 discs, as Disc 1 and 2 is the 3D version of the film (according to the back info)...

Our 2D version includes a DVD copy, so am I right to assume that the extra 2 discs in this set are because the DVD version is split over two discs?

Can we get the 3D Extended Edition without having to buy the statue edition? or is that the only version?

Can anyone help me? I'm in the US, trying to order this and BOTFA off of JBhifi, and it says they won't ship this to the US. Can I have them picked up by someone and then I'll pay to have them shipped to the US?

I thought I should point out that the JBhifi offering would be a Region B set. Given that you seem to be in Alaska, do you have a player that is modified to play Region B? You might consider going to dealoz.com and do an internal search there for what you wish.

Nah, The Hobbit discs are all region-free. Roadshow puts the B symbol on them but they're just direct ports of the US Warner discs, no region coding.

If that's the case, then I'd be happy to reserve these at JB HiFi and pay to have them shipped to the US if anyone is willing.

For the Aussie or UK EE? UK releases of these are much better, they come with lenticular slipboxes and 3D BDs instead of DVDs.

Ah yup, UK is definitely the way to go. I wish I'd been consistent, I currently have the Aussie AUJ/BOTFA and UK DOS
