Absolutely phenomenal film. It's easily my favorite movie of 2013, unless Wolf of Wall Street or American Hustle can dethrone it.

Also, it made $15.3 million on Wednesday, which is more than Tangled (which did $11.8 million). Hopefully this maintains, I want this film to be a smash!

Default Frozen Review

This film was AMAZING!
Well OK it's not perfect: the whole thing is REALLY fast paced and the character development wasn't very good (Elsa for example was so one note). The film has awkward moments that aren't funny just...awkward. The music, while I admit, all of it is very catchy, there is only, for me, one really good song (For the First Time in Forever), the rest are at best good, but not GREAT. On that note, the songs were forced, and came right the f*** out of nowhere.

BUT. Despite this, I loved it. While I think Anna is too close to Rapunzel personality wise, I love her character, I also love how it addresses the older Disney Princesses and the newer ones. I also love the characters of Kristoff and Olaf, they make this movie for me. Kristoff is perhaps the best Disney 'Prince' next to Aladdin. This movie is defiantly a milestone in the new renaissance that Disney is in that started with Tangled. It was wonderful, Best animated film of the year, and I can't wait for the blu ray.

UPDATE: upon a re watch, I realized: the Duke guy is pointless.
Take him out of the movie and you would loose nothing.

The only reason he could POSSSIBLY be there is so the movie could market him as a villain.

REALLY DISNEY!!!
THAT'S LOW EVEN FOR YOU

OH SO YOU WON'T RELEASE SONG OF THE SOUTH BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU LOOK BAD BUT YOU'LL PUT A GUY IN A ****ING MOVIE JUST AS A MARKETING TOOL.

GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Got back from seeing it and I really enjoyed. By no means does it match the caliber of the Disney movies of the 90s or the Golden Age Disney movies, but it was defintately fun. Gorgeous animation, and so inventive with its visuals, which may owe some thanks to the CG as a visual playground for the animators

The music was a little iffy. There were some really spectacular numbers, most definitely, but I can't say they were memorable, or stand the test of time like "Part of Your World" or "Something There" or "So This Is Love" or even the likes of "I Won't Say I'm In Love" or any Phil Collins / Disney song that's ever existed. There are so many you can rhyme about an "open door" or "being free" before it gets old. I swear some of these songs were just cut from "Tangled" and recycled here.

And as someone else pointed out, there is rarely ever character development, only on a superficial level. Elsa was a great contender for this treatment, but was under utilized with minimal scenes to add to the story. Kristoff was probably the most dynamic character.

But I will say I can't wait to own the 3D Blu-ray.

Saw Frozen today with my 10 year old little girl... and we both loved it. Just a sweet little movie. For some reason I wasn't expecting too much... but came out fairly wowed. And the 3D was very solid. Great job Disney... we're getting this on blu as soon as it comes out!

If I didn't like Tangled, would I like this? I do like it better from the trailers.

I hated Tangled, but I LOVED Frozen.

I think you should just give it a chance. Anna is probably one of my favorite Disney characters and this movies tries to stay away from the classic princess formulas.

It actually makes fun and ridicules a lot of the classic techniques.

[Show spoiler]Like getting engaged to someone you just met that day.

The film didn't move me, and the modern-broadway belt-o-rama songs didn't work for me either (almost felt like I was watching an episode of Glee). I think it's the weakest Disney animated feature since Lasseter took the reins. Beautiful visuals, though. It just doesn't have an emotional kick. Telling my family and friends to go to a matinee or wait for home video.

Definitely preordered!

[Show spoiler]Actually, what I really liked is that it was an open ending. I mean, yeah, they kissed but that's just it. There is no wedding. Which means that they will grow to love each other.. Especially since the kiss wasn't planned.
