I also got that Jam Ent. release of BLOOD BEACH but it's cut. Missing some scenes of dialog. There's a fan edit out there with extra gore that was on the old German vhs which is worth checking out. It also restores the police station scene missing from the German dvd.

I have to admit FINAL EXAM is an odd choice for a Shout/Code Red deal (why not Savage Streets?) but I'm thrilled nonetheless. This is, for me, the best Shout announcement in a long time.

yes, FINAL EXAM is slow and it's probably been mentioned enough at this point... part of the big appeal for certain fans is that they grew up watching these films in the 80's on cable channels like HBO and Showtime.... it's great nostalgia....

Will be sticking with the DVD, but Final Exam is one of my favorite slashers. I think it's a blast and not remotely boring. Personally, I'd take it over more popular, but deadly dull titles such as Halloween II and Prom Night any day.

I agree with you on Prom Night, but Halloween II is awesome.

It's probably a question of available materials.

I don't know anything about Final Exam, but Bill did a new HD transfer for Evilspeak when he prepared the DVD. I think the only reason he does not release it himself on BD is that he does not feel it sold well enough to take the chance. His prerogative of course, though I feel it's a bad decision on his part.

As for Savage Streets, while I would love to see it on BD, I believe either Bill or Walther has previously said that no HD materials are available, and the same did Arrow when they did their DVD. If Arrow turns the possibility of a BD release down, chances are not looking too good for a Scream release.

As for Evilspeak, kind of pissed I already bought the Code Red DVD. That'll teach me...

Aww dont be pissed off, how were you or anyone else to know. I bought Evilspeak recently also...There is just no way to know, there isnt a crystal blu ray ball anywhere. You could probably make your money back if you sold it online somewhere...

The current Scorpion Releasing DVD uses an HD Master.

Yes, but to my understanding, the releases of Blood Beach and Without Warning are not widescreen, correct? Also, they haven't been released here in the states.

I don't have an issue with low budgets....NOT AT ALL but these student film slashers ala Final Exam, Pranks, Don't Go Into The Woods I just never could get into...certain parts are okay but they are just too...(something I can't even think of a word for...I want say amateurish but that wouldn't be the exact right term as I find many other amateur films vastly entertaining).

Now they are two titles that I would get excited for...and half the reason is they don't have good widescreen DVD releases.

Blood Beach and Without Warning aren't widescreen but they are the best quality I have seen on home video. The police station scene is missing from Blood Beach but is included as an extra. For now, the German DVDs are better than nothing but hopefully both these films will come to blu Ray in all their hi def widescreen glory sooner rather than later!

To be honest I don't remember much about Final Exam, I caught it late on TV one night years ago and thought it was decent. Hoping the extras are good and they get the director involved this time.

This is the artwork I remember from the VHS days. It's awesome, isn't it?

God, I love this film. Such hardcore, old-school goodness, and the film is actually still creepy. Unfortunately it's with Studio Canal, which means Lionsgate has the home video rights. I'm happy with the Anchor Bay DVD, FWIW

MGM had a widescreen master of Without Warning and a company called Cinema de Bizarre has the best print of it , its an MOD , but its better than that horrid German release
