I highly recommend watching the alien anthology when you get the chance (for those who haven't). The PQ for Alien and Alien is astounding. The PQ for Alien Resurection looks like a bargain bin DVD and rightfully so.

I bought the indiana jones set, they look great but the indie films can be a bit boring to sit through even though I love them. I don't think I've watched one of those blus all the way through.

I bought the underworld and die hard sets and never watched them once so I sold them.

Sounds like people are buying their Blu-rays for all the wrong reasons.

If I buy it, I'm going to watch it within a week or 2 of it arriving. Otherwise, I would consider myself a little bit .

Returns is the one that turns you off, not Quest for Peace?

Lethal Weapon 2, & this is my favorite movie of all time. It's on TV almost once a week it seems, so I never opened it. Maybe if I cut the cord...

Taxi Driver digipack. Got it for $5 during U&S. I've heard how good it is but I have yet to watch it. I'll get to it eventually.

This is my favorite trilogy of all time and I absolutely love everything about the extended editions. Such a perfect story!

Very nice premise here!! well, even though I try to watch every movie with the extras as soon as I get them, I have A LOT of movies that I have not watched since I purchase them....for example I Dying to get the Star Trek movie releases, I got them all, I watched the movies, and never the extras....I plan to do it some day though....same as Anthology, I never finished watching the extras, and its been a while now...so probably Ill have to start from scratch again.....

So, yes and no to your question.

Pretty much.

After posting here for awhile, I notice that a lot of the posters here are "collectors" that buy just about anything to beef up their collection and are not actual hardcore film fans/buffs. There are a good amount of posters here that actually care more about the movies than worry about how big their collection is but we seem to be in the minority.

Unfortunately, you will find plenty of those kinds of 'collectors' here. I'm not buying a BD just because it's cheap. I have to enjoy the film enough to want to watch it repeatedly first.

There's a user on here who I'm also friends with on Twitter - he collects all Criterion, Scream Factory CE's and maybe a few more collections I can't remember.
We had a chat about it once and although I appreciate the whole theory behind "collecting" something I couldn't really understand the mentality of spending money on something you may watch once, dislike and never watch again. You may actually only like 80% of titles within a collection.

That's just crazy to me, I can't see it as anything other than a waste of money. But that's just my opinion.....as long as it makes him happy then fair enough.

Personally I have to like/love the film to own it.

Depends. I've had movies where I had to get at the time, due to a VERY good deal, but have still not watched it. Last year on Black Friday, I bought the Red vs Blue blu ray box set for just $60 and still have not watched it. I don't regret it, because $60 for the whole thing is an amazing deal IMO. But I just never felt like watching it yet. Same for lots of my shows. Still haven't watched Rome, Band of Brothers, the Pacific, Hannibal, Justified, or Deadwood.
And I have no desire to watch any of them right now.

I know I like them, but I've just never been in the mood to watch any of them yet. But with that said, I've gotten all of them for fantastic deals, and I definitely do not regret buying them. I will eventually watch everything.

Same here. The only time that doesn't happen is if there's an extremely low price on something that I know I want, but I won't be able to watch until later. For instance, if I didn't already own it, I would have jumped on the lightning deal for Star Trek The Original Series today at Amazon. It would probably be a good couple of months or more before I started watching them, but I'd know that I will watch them (multiple times) at some point in the future.

I'm not going to buy a Blu-ray just because it's cheap or just to have it. I only buy ones that I plan on watching. I may not be able to watch them all immediately, or ever within two weeks, but I know I will.

Nothing that I never want to play, but I do have a lot of movies still in shrink-wrap (and some of those replaced DVD versions that were still in shrink-wrap) simply because they are movies I've seen too many times, especially the ones from back when I was a kid in the 80's. And I'm more interested lately in discovering new stuff and I've been enjoying more premium channel TV shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire when I have time to watch something.

Why have them? I just like to have them since I'm a little obsessive about having my collection represent movies I've loved over my lifetime. The Alien movies, a lot of AH-nold movies and Tax Driver are good examples, still in shrink-wrap. I bought Labyrinth the other day, watched it, and then realized I probably never need to watch it ever again it's so embedded in my brain. But it'll still remain in the collection.

Wow. Why buy a movie just to let it sit on your shelf and never watch it? Talk about defeating the purpose.
After you do that, you can buy a steak and use it as a door stop.

I couldn't have said it better. There are collectors and then there are lovers of film who couldn't give a damn about artwork (my god, it sits on a shelf spine out, who see's it?) but are more focused on OAR, PQ & AQ and in some cases the extras.

I don't think it's necessarily a case of buying movies you don't like. I think it's more a case of liking a movie, then buying the blu...but for some reason, other movies in your collection end up in a higher priority of being watched.

I think I bought Alexander the final cut back in 2008 or so when I saw it cheap at Target. I keep telling myself I'll watch it one day.
