I have a feeling that Catching Fire is going to have some demo-worthy audio when the BD is released. There were two scenes from my memory that were pretty impressive in the theater:

[Show spoiler]The part where the chimpanzees attack at night and another part where the birds sounded like the tributes' loved ones. Both sequences had a lot of great, smartly done panning effects, nice dynamics, and good use of the surrounds.

It was an impressive soundtrack overall though, so hopefully I can add that to my list of films to show off my system. I can imagine the IMAX footage in the daytime scenes will look fantastic too.

I haven't fired up Ep2 of StarWars in a long time, I guess I need to check it out!

Another film that sounds great is Danny Boyle's Sunshine.

Are you guys talking about Master and Commander on DVD for sound? I heard the DVD sounds better bass wise than the BD. I don't own either so I wouldn't know for sure.

But for those that don't know about this list, it is worth checking out for bass heads.http://www.avsforum.com/t/1333462/th...equency-charts

Rambo (2008) last 10 mins
U571 depth charges

I always use the opening scene from "Quantom Of Solace" It looks great and sounds great....and it's the perfect length.

For me it's hands down: Superman or Superman: The Movie if you prefer. I've always built my sound system around the opening credits. The contrast in range visually and musically are hard to match.

This scene always does it for me. Sound of the bullets panning from right to left and the LFE upon impact is very impressive.

I could honestly list hundreds of films. Though a few of my favorites that don't often get mentioned in these threads are:

Phantom Menace pod race sounds amazing...pretty much any Pixar title but I'll choose Toy Story 3 for the visuals

This is my go to for a sound demo!

If I am doing visuals then I tend to favor Sin City, the contrast in that movie is just so awesome!

I'd choose Pacific Rim and Underworld Awakening. Both films are razor sharp, have great black levels, sound amazing, and have incredible 3D. With the constant arena IMAX scenes, I think Catching Fire will be high on my list also once it's released.

I would choose ocean's eleven as my sound demo disc, the scene where brad Pitt is playing cards at the table. The sound of the cards going down on the table makes my tv speakers shake.

For video I would choose The Color Of Money, it really does feel like I'm looking through a window on my set. Everyone is impressed when I show them the hotel room scene. A plus!

I agree it really is one of my favorite movies. Sin City is no slouch either when it comes to sound effects and LFE!!

I didn't get a chance to see Pacific Rim in the theaters. Always wanted to just got to busy. I remember watching it at home for the very first time. The sound effects and the LFE is bananas.

I'm waiting for Catching Fire as well. Truly enjoyed it in IMAX.

I know I am in the minority for choosing this movie but for an old school epic movie on BD, Ben-Hur. I just bought this movie last weekend and wow what a great transfer for a late 50's movie! Another movie for crazy low bass is Cloverfield.

Another good one for LFE is The Fourth Kind. The movie itself isn't the greatest, but has good LFE throughout the film. Even the review here at BD.com mentions how powerful the LFE is:
