Does anyone collect movies based on actors or actresses?

I decide purely based on the movie itself and whether or not it's something I think I might like. I will say there are directors and actors (male/female) who's work I've enjoyed, and that may peak my interest a little further. It's never the deciding factor however.

I do, especially movies with my fave classic actors like Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Gene Kelly, James Dean, Rock Hudson, Katharine Hepburn, Leslie Caron, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis.

Yep, I virtually do the same thing.

If movies have my favorite actors -- Robert Downey Jr., Bill Murray, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Matthew McConaughey (post-2009), Ryan Gosling & Bryan Cranston -- I'm probably gonna end up buying them just for that sheer fact alone. Really big fan of those guys and lately, nearly all of them have been on fire in terms of their movies. I just hope they keep it up.

Jackie Chan

I bought most of his movies on VHS, then with the help of Hong Kong Legends (and other labels) managed to upgrade my collection and more to DVD. I haven't upgraded to Blu-ray yet and only will for worthwhile purchases.

It took me long enough to get uncut versions of movies like First strike and the Chinese version of The Protector to just go all in to upgrading again. That said I would consider upgrading if the PQ was worth it (Operation Condor) but for some reason Jackie's fantastic catalogue of movies seems to get generally sub-par treatment when it comes to Blu.

not anymore. I mean, I will watch a movie on netflix or tv if there is an actor or actress I like but not as a blind buy. At one time I would have but too many bad movies made just for the paycheck now to buy it based off of just a name.

I also find that I've been buying a lot of movies with Sandra Bullock, Chloe Grace Moretz and Leonardo DiCaprio lately as well. But Kristen Stewart is the main one who I actually have a stand-alone collection for.

I buy movies based on the merit of the movie not the actor or actress but I do have a thing for Tom Cruise. Although I have rented a ton of bad-tastic movies based on actor or actress.
