is it really "sharper" or did they just use a filter to make the picture look sharper? on a big screen that will probably just look worse , cuz you will notice it that it way more that a filter was used.

did someone already watch the bonus feature? how is it? interessting? worth to double dip? whats inside of the booklet?

If you ask me, there is not much between them at all. They both look good, especially since they come from different scans. Only reason I went for the Criterion was for the (much) better cover art and because I used a $5 voucher to get the price down to near the MOC level.

I also like how the Criterion booklet/foldout is designed like a newspaper, very nice touch I thought.

I do believe both releases have pros and cons, but looking at what I've read here and there, the Criterion does seem to have a slight technical edge over the MoC.

This is a three discs set, not two discs. Feature and extras were too large for a single dvd

Anyone ever notice how the black bars spaz out from 29:03-30:24 (just before Chuck and Herbie leave the cave) on the MoC? Some weird blocking/flickering. I double checked my Criterion disc and it's not present so it's an encoding anomaly on the Eureka.

Have watched this recently, having got it from the sale, didn't notice anything much wrong. Noticed something similar in "Battling Butler" around 47 min mark, thought it was a sudden snow storm or something at first, the flecks so noticable.

What's with the scanner noise on the MoC caps?

Aren't both MoC and Criterion sourced from the same master/scan?

No, they aren't. MoC uses the same HD master that Criterion used for their original DVD back in 2007 while Criterion was a newer scan. They both use the same source elements but they are not from the same master.
