OTOH Sony just announced 6m sales for the PS4, and the XB1 (at least around launch) has also broken records in sales. Those elements will eventually play in favor of next gen only titles.
They better hurry up and start focusing more on "next gen" titles because if they are going to still be heavily on last gen, it was pointless for the PS4/XB1 to be released at this time then.

Based on what's coming down the pipeline, it doesn't seem like it.

Do you expect them to turf out games at the click of a finger, these things take time. Or would you rather have rushed product?

Not trying to argue, and I do see your point to an extent, but I'm sure they are all working very hard, why wouldn't they, they want our money

But in the interim, some last gen games are fine with me

Yeah because we've had the whole of lets see here whats out and whats coming for both Xbox and Playstation: Rayman, Tomb Raider, Madden 25th, Fifa 14, Just Dance, Diablo III, Final Fantasy XIV, NBA 2K14, Skylanders SWAP Force, and Injustice so far with the possibility of GTA V. That's a total of 11 titles of which 3 of them could be considered cross gen and not ports as they came out within a month or so. Compared to that we have cross gen titles numbering 22 at this point that are coming or already out. Last but not least we have next gen exclusive as of this post (may be other systems confirmed later) that are coming or already out. That number is currently sitting at 22. So we have a total of 44 games that are out or are coming that are either cross gen or next gen exclusive compared to 11 ports of which there is a few with a fine line for them to be ports. This is also only taking into account retail games. The margin only grows when you put in digital only titles. I don't see how that compares with your statement.

You also forgot GTAIV (which this thread is actually about), ME trilogy & the UC trilogy (and the two Vita UC games) and Dark Souls II (granted all the games I've mentioned are rumors but when there's smoke, there fire). Also, I'm not talking about games that are released at the same time on current and last gen consoles. I'm talking about games that came out last gent (Tomb Raider for example) and not even a year later, pops up on the current gen). All I'm saying is that at this point, this gen is starting to seem that it's only about bringing games that came out last gen over to this gen.

This is clearly your first console launch because the game output for PS3/360 and Xbox/PS2/GC on release was actually MUCH worse.

The launch titles we got for this gen has actually been the best we have seen.

Keep in mind Tomb Raider is the only port that has been actually released.
A lot of titles are RUMORED, but none of have been announced and released.

I am perfectly ok with Sony/MS releasing remastered games from last gen to fill in the abysmal release gap between Infamous 2 and Destiny. There is Watch Dogs, but thats it.

SMH, sorry pal but the 360 launch game selection was way better then the PS2/PS3/PS4/XB/XB/GC. Only the DC had a better launch list than the 360. Goes to show that you know nothing of my gaming history to make asinine judgements on people. If anything, this is your 1st ever launch for you to make that comment that this launch is the best we've seen (which is clearly wrong). Anyway, this thread has been sidetracked way too long. Back to topic.

None of those are ports of already released 7th gen games. They are games that are being simultaneously developed for both 7th and 8th gen systems.

That being said I don't have a problem with 7th gen games being ported. They are usually ported by new (and unproven) developers and they therefore don't take resources away from the more skilled developers and they provide good practice for the less skilled developers. Plus if I still like a 7th gen game, why wouldn't I like an 8th gen version even more?

This sums it up perfectly. If its a 7th gen port of a game you don't like or no longer have a desire to play then don't buy the damn thing.

Games that I would be ALL over if they got a port are:
GTA V (duh)
Last of Us
Uncharted
Bioshock Infinite
Borderlands (both)
Dishonored (I have high hopes that it will come out)

Plenty others.

Doesn't this thread title contradict itself? "Rumor:... confirmed"?

It seems especially strange that people are complaining about ports on this site.
Is anyone here bothered by movies that were previously released only on DVD coming to Blu-ray?

You don't want, then don't buy

The more I think about it the more I want GTA V on the PS4. Besides, if Rockstar continues to expand on GTA Online as they have promised I'd rather it be on current gen consoles, not last.

I for one would welcome GTAv on ps4. I mean the graphics were amazing on the 360, but a nice visual upgrade would be welcome. I loved what it did for tomb raider, and I definatly would re purchase gta
