Sorry TERRORISM, some people on the forum here are a little bit paranoid and they see troll everywhere.

It is clear you were just misinformed. So welcome here and learn with us

Now, I normally don't take a snap at early posters, especially one's with a valid argument. Having said that, the manner in which you've approached your statements are certainly not a manner becoming of one who is really interested in becoming educated.

I treat those how they treat others, and well, your example here precedes itself. You don't feel welcome? I don't think you have any further to look than yourself with your combative rebuttals.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, however, a suggestion,...approach your rebuttals with what at least appears to be a genuine yearning for knowledge and not fanboy rubbish followed by combative statements. Be specific, and keep your arguments focused and on point.

Food for thought. Best of luck indeed.

Agreed. And the public personal attacks (i.e., "namecalling") that were used against me earlier as well as threats (you threatening that I'd be "banned") will certainly only exacerbate the situation. Would you walk up to a snarling dog and kick it in the face if you had every opportunity to walk in the other direction?

If you don't like what I have said, then send me a PRIVATE message - WITHOUT the insolence - or report me. There's no room or necessity for personal attacks or threats - especially if they're made public. Enough said.

edit: check the links in my sig. the first because you're offended and i'm here to help the second because its my favorite post regarding the whole storage space/bitrate debate. very informative. the rest of my original message is pretty redundant after reading the rest of the thread but i'll leave it in anyway.

terror,
you are a strange individual. BD has 7 times the storage capacity of dvd, but the picture resolution alone is 6 times that of dvd(quoting the disney commercials). the only way to make all 3 spideys fit would be to put the regular dvd encodes on the bd. that sounds like an hd dvd stradegy. ''hey look a whole box set on 1 disc, it looks like crap, but its on 1 disc).

as for the degeneration of the thread, I will go read the whole thing now because it sounds hilarious from the few posts on page 2 that I read. terror just a suggestion. using the term insollence makes you sound like a self absorbed, arrogant, pseudo intellectual who looks down on everyone. just saying. I think i've seen you use it twice already more than anyone i've seen since high school. no offense intended.

Funny, when I heard "insolence" I thought of...

...and just to be clear, I didn't threaten him of being banned, I simply stated the obvious in that if he kept his posting behavior up, it would only be a matter of time...looks like it didn't take long.

You started it with your attacks on Blu-ray. You didn't come here with honest questions. You came with a negative attitude towards Blu-Ray. I will summaraize a few things so that if anyone searches this forum, maybe they will find this:

1) hd-dvd uses VC-1 video codec exclusively. It has more compression and artifacts that AVC, which many Blu-ray discs use. AVC also takes more space, enough so that if hd-dvd were to use it, it would be impossible to get a 2 hour movie on the hd-dvd disc.

2) bit rate. Blu-ray can get as high as 48mbps. Hd-dvd is under 30mbps. So AVC couldn't be used on hd-dvd for that reason either.

3) Audio codecs. The better sounding audio techniques also use more space that the inferior ones used by hd-dvd to conserve space.

4) Future expandability. As deep color and other things in HDMI 1.3 come to HDTV, where is hd-dvd going to find the space for them? Answer: There is no more space. And that's not considering the bandwidth issues. Don't bring TL51 up. Tl51 is a bad joke that will do more to piss off current hd-dvd users than promote the format. TL51 will not address the bit rate issue in #2 above.

Bye Bye troll.
