Over on the HDN Thread, it was said that the Czech version of this steel doesn't have the new, remastered disk. One would assume they would all have the same content...

Content of that steel

Thanks. What a screw job by Fox to use the same artwork from the US remastered releases for these steelbooks.

Love the fact it says disk one like it's meant to have 2 disks or is.it stacked

The Original UK release was 2 disk, was it not? With Disk 2 being special features.

So that would mean dropping of content as well as not including remastered film.

Or the typical steelbook treatment for the most part

Has anyone received this yet? Release date is today and yet there is still no 'confirmed' artwork anywhere to be found.

I'm wondering whether anyone can confirm it is NOT the signature series remaster, as I was led to believe and just a repackage of the original blu ray release.

I have both versions now and as far as I am concerned this is the new remaster.
Gone is the horrible pastel and colour bleed from the first version and also gone is the William Friedkin colour correction feature.
The disc also is dated 2014 and does not have disc 1 printed on it
Get ordering folks

Does it have any extras on the disc as the 2008 version has none
And are on a seperate disc

If you have the remastered version it's only 1 disc and it has all the extras bar the BBC documentary from 2008
If your disc has no extras it's not the remastered version

What extras does it have on the disc

If it has the same extras as USA remastered Disc then that would be good news

Yep it has tons of extras (Commentary by Wlliam Friedkin, commentary by Gene Hackman and Roy Sheider, Trivia Track, Isolated Score Track, Deleted Scenes, Anatomy of a Chase, Hackman On Doyle, Friedkin and Grosso Remember the Real French Connection, Scene Of The Crime, Cop Jazz: The Music Of Don Ellis, Rogue Cop: The Noir Connection, Making The Connecton: The Untold Stories of The French Connection) and as per my original post does not have "Disc 1" labelled on it
Also I compared the screen cap in the US remaster blu ray review where it mentions 2 people in a boat, in the old version one of their coats is white and in the new version its yellow...well on this disc its also yellow

Plus as I said before I have both discs and there is no longer the colour bleed or the feature on colour retiming

I regret cancelling it now, as it's gone up £5 from what it was the other week.

I almost did, after checking confirmation on this thread. Pleased I didn't as it's price has shot up everywhere.

People shouldn't post as fact - what they have as hearsay.

If that was directed at me for posting the Czech SteelBook info, then I apologize. I would have never guessed that they would release the same steelbook over there but with different content. I was just trying to give some information that hadn't been reported yet

FYI - I also never stated as fact that the UK version would be the same. It was just an assumption. A wrong one I might add. It doesn't happen too often though, so don't take it too hard on me

No apology needed. I wasn't referring to you, I saw your post and took it for what it was 'a Czech release'. Everybody participating in the thread were speculating whether or not the imminent UK release was to be a similar disappointment.

I asked the question yesterday (day of release) if anyone could confirm that this indeed was the case, as I thought someone may have received it. I got a reply informing me that it was indeed identical to the Czech release. They obviously guessed. Thankfully they were wrong (they've since deleted the post), and thankfully I waited.

Regards

BTW, the disc is exactly the same (except the print) as in "Filmmakers Signature Series" from US.
