Dunno but I picked it up cheap from Amazon.de and it looks decent. Sure it has DNR, but it's not an upscale and is worth what little I paid for it (it was under $10) until something better comes along.

Probably hang onto the DVD until something better comes along...just worried nothing will. It was a 'sleeper' film after all.

Just cannot believe this title hasn’t been released in the UK and US. I mean there are extras on the German version, wouldn’t they have been made for an English speaking audience? Just so annoying as it’s one of my all-time favourites

There's a rumor that Severin or Vinegar Syndrome have this in the US, so I imagine if ether one touts new 2k master or something, it will likely be the same on the upcoming Koch BD.

Any news on this? Would love it if VS gave it the same deluxe treatment that Beastmaster got.

Amazon.de shipped my copy today. Don't remember choosing Expedited shipping (they shipped UPS) but I don't mind if they charged me more as long as it doesn't take a month. Been looking forward to revisiting this film via a decent transfer. It's an 80's classic IMO.

What do you think of the transfer?

Is there really no American bluray of this movie?

For an American which version is best? Assuming there is one?

Are there English audio track?

Is the German the best?

There two German BluRay releases. Both have english Audio Track. According to caps-a-holic BD Scan one has english subtitles.

So be careful not to get the "worldwide best" Krekel Picture of the Platinum Cult Edition. Head for the "Koch Media", if you go for a German release.

Koch might release.

Just see how clear, fine HD picture the Platinum Cult has: No grain disturbing any viewing experiance.. (just a joke on trying to sound positive about that):

Austria also has a BD release, but thats same disc, as DigiDreams (Platinum Cult)

I gave up waiting for another release, caved and bought the Koch mediabook. Finished watching it now, haven't seen it since the 80s, but still holds up as pretty good Sci-fi. PQ is good too, no complaints from me.

I still don’t understand how they could make new extras for this film and not release it in the US

Because it was funded by the German studio releasing it

Just saw this for the first time and enjoyed it. Had no idea there were blu editions out there. The older style effects were kind of nostalgic.

I'd buy a Region A Blu any day. Grew up with this 80s minor sci-fi classic, owned on VHS and DVD (including a VHS release with a vintage documentary on the production on a second tape... does that still exist?).

Bring it, my wallet and I are in!

Bizarre IMO this never got any releases in at least the US.
This film is pretty damn good.
