Wow,

I've had plenty of friends and associates from all over Latin America, and I have never had anyone be offended, because I referred to them as being from their home country, be it Mexico, Panama or Brazil. As mentioned above, there was sensitivity, because so many ignorants consider all Latin Americans as "Mexicans".

There are 3 AMERICAS, north, south and central. And I have yet to hear of ANYONE call people from the USA anything but american. And yes I have been to a lot of other countries and all over the USA. I didn't say people from the USA have an exclusive right to anything, it just so happens that the name of their country ends in America, so people refer to them as americans. Trust me when I say that everywhere I go people from the USA are referred to as AMERICANS. I have yet to hear anyone from south america, central america or Canada refer to themselves as americans.

I was just in Europe, (scotland, Italy, and Ireland) and everywhere I went people would ask if I was "American or Canadian"......

Anyway, for all the bright people that didn't get the first comment. It was a statement made regarding the context in which Aygie said Mexican. It wasn't a declaration about saying Mexican in general.
