Nelly's Folly was also on the 3-Disc Academy Awards Animation Collection

Was kinda hoping more new-to-any-digital-format titles, but hey, I'll buy it.

First, we have to get them over their "Nobody remembers the Looneys!" paranoia/persecution complex, just because they can't sell us the crappy new unfunny CN stuff...
THEN, we have to slowly work them out of their old Yogi Bear and Popeye traumas that now make them cringe and hide in the corner in a fetal position every time someone says "4-disk Collector's box set."

...Warner is a studio with issues.

I was half expecting this series to have ended at Vol. 2. Great news!

I was worried they weren't going to release any more. I wonder if the second set of Tom & Jerry will ever be released.

The recent Looney Tunes Show on CN was decent...nothing like the classics, but decent for what it was.

So without the advantage of burned discs, the BD Archive program is actually a joke, a facade.
The difference would be that it's a smaller print run and kept to selling from their own website. They don't have to press 20,000 copies to make sure every Best Buy and Barnes & Noble has it on the shelf, nor do they have to market it to the general public.

They're going to have to create HD masters of all the cartoons eventually, anyways.

They confirmed last year that this will be their last release for Looney Tunes. Of course if sales are better than normal they may reconsider.

Sadly, this is what I've heard as well. Jerry Beck has said on his recent Stu's Show appearances that Warner has no budget left for restoring/remastering its classic animated Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts.

I'm stoked at the news! Their last two volumes were stellar releases and IMO, must haves for animation fans. They've really demonstrated not only the depth of their catalog, but really outstanding bonus content.

Here's an update on the extras:

Quote:
The set contains 50 remastered HD classic Looney Tunes shorts plus bonus materials that include 26 audio commentaries, and over 12 documentaries - including the 70-minute Mel Blanc: The Man Of A Thousand Voices, the 60-minute Drawn For Glory: Animation's Triumph At The Oscars, and the three-part The Boys From Termite Terrace (1975). An all-new doc, That's All Folks! Tales From Termite Terrace, is also part of the mix.

Looks like the ones newly released are:

- Honey's Money (previously censored to eliminate Sam throwing a ball into a busy street and getting run over)

- Life with Feathers (previously censored due to "suicide" scenes)

- Tree for Two (not sure why unreleased; possibly censored?)

- Beep Prepared (censored due to Coyote getting shot by machine guns)

Everything else has been released in SD, but these will still be great upgrades.

I'm sad this is the last of the Platinum Collections, when there are still so many completely unreleased shorts (many of the Sam and Ralph ones, and a few of the gophers ones), but it's better than nothing. Between the 3 PCs and the Mouse collection we'll have about 250 shorts in HD. Not bad, could be better, but it's what it is.

150 cartoons from the three Platinum collections plus 19 from the Mouse Chronicles set. I don't think you'd reach 250 even after including the Snafu, military, and MGM cartoons. And all the bonus shorts have been SD except for two of the military shorts, Hell-Bent for Election, and The Door on Vol. 1 and Blitz Wolf on Vol. 2.

I haven't bought Vol 2 but will get it and Vol 3. Warner Archive has released animated shows on blu-ray so why not a Looney Tunes Vol 4?

I'm glad this was finally officially announced, but there aren't as many new-to-home video cartoons as I would've liked. This is especially disappointing as this is probably the last PC volume.

I'll still buy it on release day, though.

I was hoping that they would release the cropped cartoons from the first two Looney Tunes Super Stars DVDs in their original aspect ratio, but sadly, that's not happening.

Could any Looney Tunes fantatics give some insight on how they choose which cartoons get restorations? One of my all time favorite Tunes, "Bugs Bunny Rides Again" remains to be seen on Blu-Ray. Any idea how they choose them? Thanks!

Awesome News! Let's hope Disney does something like this for their shorts as well.
