"Amazing" film! I'm guessing there will be a steel of this so, depending on the artwork, I'll be getting that. If not then the 3D 1 will do me. I'm sure it'll have a sexy slipcover!

I thought the film was very good but predictable. If you have read the comics then you'd know how things play out with Gwen Stacey.

And if you haven't, then it'll come as a complete surprise - like it did for me. So, no, not predictable at all.

To be fair its not like they had a choice. Certain things have to happen in some comic franchises or fans will get angry. If they hadnt done what they did then fans would say its wrong and if they did do it then fans say its predictable.

Its a bit like what happens to Uncle Ben. He always has to die to make Spiderman who he is. So its predictable but nessessary.

I look forward to film 3 and which members of the sinister 6 will make an appearance. I personally think Adrian Tombes will be one of the main villians as Vulture (Doc Oc is too obvious). I think the Venom story arc with start too and will be concluded in film 4.

Really enjoyed the film! Think I preferred it to the first. I felt that there was some inconsistency with Peter's character in the first film and the villain wasn't all that strong. I feel that both elements are handled better in this film. (On a slightly selfish note, I also recognised a few more actors that I like in this film! So maybe that helped out too.) It's certainly meant to be a simply comic book movie (in my eyes anyway) and it doesn't really get that weighty (until the end at least, which was rather surprising actually! But in a good way), but I think the heart, comedy and drama was all balanced out really nicely here. Gonna give the film 8/10 (I gave the first one 7.75/10).

£21 is too much, though. I'm not gonna preorder at that price, nor do I need to as I will not have a 3DTV in my posession in a few months time. I'm gonna wait a few months after it's release for the price to come down, but I'm gonna see it one more time in the cinemas towards the end of its' run to make up for that.

Oh, yeah, the original Spidey stuck to the comics alright.

They did actually. Like I said Uncle Ben died just as he should. Curt Connors became the Lizard by trying to grow his arm back just like the comics.

Its the same with Captain America First avenger. Bucky had to "die" in that too as its part of the comic legacy.

Batman's and Superman's parents have to die.

Certain comic story lines are important to the character and film makers know they must honour them.

But that's the point - he didn't. In the Sam Raimi trilogy Connors never became the Lizard. They had him in, they had his arm missing, they just never did that part of the storyline. They weren't beholden to it. Just like how Uncle Ben's death in this set of films (and by the end of the Raimi trilogy were Sandman was now a part of it) were different from the comic version. They adapt these stories. They can honour what happens in the comics or take it in new directions.

Could have been the same here - or at least they didn't have to do it in the second film. And, to be honest I think it's pretty selfish of you not spoilering that - even if the filmmakers were going that way with the character it hadn't been confirmed that it would happen in this film.

Still, who cares - you've seen it and wanted to share that it happened so what does it matter, eh?

Who here didn't think the movie suffered from "too many villains"? Rhino's only in one scene. I thought Electro and Green Goblin worked together perfectly.

Why not? The 3D was awesome in this, miles better than the first film's.

The trailer practically told you what was going to happen to her. Same with Bucky in The Winter Soldier. How people didn't know it was him is beyond me.

I'm conflicted.
The post you quoted was before I actually saw the film.

Ever since "Avatar", any other picture I've seen has had cr*p 3D, which pretty much swore me off 3D at the time.

And then "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" came along, and seeing as how it was only available in 3D at the time when I wanted to see it, I opted for the 3D option.

I went in with low expectations for the 3D in this, and I was pleasently surprised.

I'm still not going to buy any 3D gear, but it's nice to know that the 3D in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was actually good.

Yeah, I don't think the movie suffered from that problem, I thought the amount of villains was fine - like you said, Rhino was just there at the end.
I didn't like Electro though, seemed too goofy for me and I'm not a fan of the look they went with.
Dane DeHaan was excellent as the Green Goblin though, he was definitely the standout for me.

Here is my Spoiler-Free review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Here is my review of the first film in case you want to check it out too.

Also added my personal opinion on the film to the main post.

Cheers!

Still no improvement from the first one for me. Overlong with uninvolving action scenes(and not enough of them).Don't like the way EVERYTHING revolves around Oscorp, and from the look of things to come nothing will change.
[Show spoiler]The proposed Sinister Six appear to be nothing more than Oscorp foot soldiers - Rhino suit,Vulture suit,Doc Oc suit etc.
The little boy in the Spidey suit was cool though.

Your spoiler makes no sense when you consider they are getting their own movie

This was well better than I was expecting. The first one in my opinion was just as bad as Spider-Man 3. So good to see they've brought it back up to the level of the first two Raimi films.

[Show spoiler]Also props to them for having the balls to kill off a major character. You don't see that much in Superhero films.

You can thank Marvel for that. That storyline was around in the 60's. As soon as that character was announced in the first film it was obvious what would happen in one of the future films.

One thing I'm glad about in modern comic films is that they rarely kill off the villians. Thats very true to the comics. In older comic films like Spiderman 1, 2 and 3, Batman, Batman Returns and plenty of others they kill off the villian. Villians in films usually have a lot more to offer then what one film can give them. Imagine what would have happened if Loki died in Thor 1. He wouldnt be in Avengers or Thor 2 and Loki is one of Marvel's best villians.
