I don't know who he would be trying to get one over on if they do this? We left the character at a great place in his life, he was successful with his Mrs Doubtfire tv series and he got to see his kids everyday after school.

The problem with this movie sequel is this movie did not need one. What he did he did for his family to see his children. At the end of the movie he had everything he ever wanted, the successful career, joint custody of his children, and peace with his ex wife.

So part 2 is what his son/daughter are getting a divorce, and the soon to be ex wife wont let anyone see the kids and now wants a nanny so he teaches one of them how to don the makeup.. o yeah btw that does not work because Virgina Doubtfire is a famous TV personality now.

This is one Hollywood needs to let go.

If Nostalgia Critic can coax her out of hiding from academia, then a few hundred thousand can tug her into a movie.... Still why do we need a sequel? Is Sally Field threatening Robin Williams from seeing their now adult children, and Pierce Brosnan is threatening to sue him for attempting to see them, so he dons Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire once again to be housekeeper at each of their homes? Hmmmm......

Odd choice for a sequel. It's been so long since the first one, this could almost stand for a complete remake. Most younger audiences probably don't even remember the first one.

The Robin Williams movie that needs a sequel is Jack...oh wait! Uh, no that one's not gonna work LOL!

Lisa Jakub, who played older sister Lydia, had this to say about the movie:

Quote:
My goodness, I woke up and it's like we're back in 1993.

It was news to me - the only reason I know about this is because you guys sent me the links. No one involved with the movie has contacted me and I don't know any more than you do about the details.

Lots of people are asking if I would do it - and my answer is a really solid "I don't know." It's really hard to comment on something you have no information about.

But let's face it, Doubtfire 2 has been "in development" several times before and nothing has come of it. So I'm taking it all with a Hollywood-sized grain of salt.

Besides which, 20 years later, I'm not sure if my character would still be hanging out with the rest of the Hillards. I'm pretty sure Lydia would be a lawyer, living in some remote part of the world, defending the downtrodden and sneering at the bad guys...

Yeah, the ending to the first one was perfect. Which is all the more impressive cuz they avoided the cliche of forcing the parents back together and actually kept them divorced.

Please don't ruin that with an unnecessary sequel. Tootsie was a massive success too and they never went and destroyed that with a follow-up.
