The Rumours are TRUE, clearly Blu-Ray.com are a bunch of PS3 crying FanBoys, which reject FACTIAL INFORMATION.... Expect several negative “Press Releases” by reviewers & studios about Blu-Ray.com in the next coming weeks.
sounds like someone got a timeout. now sit there and think about what you've done young man. remember fud is not your friend.

and what "factial information" are you talking about? not the quotes from actual paramount executives stating the exact amounts of the payoff? right?

Indeed !

Rumour: HD-DVD is equal to Blu in capacity/bitrate/studio - hardware support

Fact: hd-dvd based on current sales and hardware support has no future

Fact: You'll never see an hd-dvd disc in my collection, no matter what. I'd have to hate Hidef first

His entire post history is essentially a clinic on FUD, amongst other things.

I will say that Toshiba will be helping Paramount/DreamWorks with money for advertizing.

Sony stopped subsidizing Paramount/DreamWorks for Blu-Ray discs due to their expensive production costs. HD DVD are a lot more cheaper to produce, so even if they sell less HD DVD movie titles, they turn a profit, where as every time they sell a BD movie, they lose money. Sony used to pay Paramount/DreamWorks this extra cost just to keep their Blu-Ray support. Not anymore, Sony cannot afford this subsidizing anymore.

Now it’s O.K. to have a favourite Hi Def Format, but HD DVD & Blu-Ray are both not going to die off for many years to come, so let’s hope people at least support both formats & have both co-excising in their theatre room(s).
(Please Note that HD DVD never has a Paramount/DreamWorks contract but they still produced movies on the format due to the cheaper price...)
Thanks for the mis-information, FUDIO SUPPORT.

Goodbye!

So many people all seem to think that Blu-ray is a Sony Exclusive.
I continuosly have to correct people and inform them of the MANY different entities that make up the BDA.

Collectively, the BDA members could POUND Toshiba into the weeds!
Why they don't... ???
Toshiba is too stubborn and just plain dumb to keep this "war" dragging out.

Blu is the clear winner.
More CE Mfgr. support
More market share
More choices on player brands
*BURNERS*
Video bitrate
Uncompressed audio

List goes on...

How much money does Toshiba need to lose practically giving away their HD DVD players?

Dumb Dumb Dumb!

Ah well, *WE* all chose better quality over "The look and sound of________"... LOL!

The only thing we know is that an inducement was probably paid. Reyling on the simplest explanation being the most probable, there is something more than just a payoff.

The prolonged loss of sales by losing Blu-ray requires more than $150 million. It will be interesting to see what Dreamworks says if a split happens.

This whole enitre thing stinks to high hell. However, after seeing the prolonged silence of Paramount, with the exception of the Transformers screw up, it seems that something else is at play, besides the alleged $150 million 18-month exclusivity contract.

With this said, if all things are just rumour, then the continued support of Paramount/Dreamworks for HD-DVD must be that Sony knows that Toshiba is in trouble and going to fold. Otherwise, they would pay immediately.
