I hope he does. Great voice actor and I really thought he was great in the OT.

as a live action film star? No.

He's found success in voice acting and popping up in small films or small roles. He will continue to do that.

He is a great voice actor. And doesn't he still make plenty of royalties off of Star Wars, for the deal he originally made?

Those small films are all practically unwatchable amateurish straight-to-video movies. It would be nice if he was cast in at least a professionally-made respectable indie film.

Look at the trailers for his other movies. They majority of them look pretty painful but that's not his fault - it's the production's amateurish-looking fault.

For anyone curious to see what Hamill's live-action movie filmography has been like post-Return of the Jedi, here ya go:

Besides Sushi Girl, Jay and Silent Bob, and Village of the Damned, Slipstream and Commander Hamilton look sort of tempting to see - pretty funny to see Peter Stormare in some Bruce Willis hero role. Did anyone see these films?

And has anyone seen Hamill's Fall of the Eagles with Christopher Lee? This WW2 film sounds good but I cant find a trailer online.

I think he's been good to very good in everything I've seen him in.

The problem is that (and in general too, not just me) everytime I -see- him, I immediately think of Luke Skywalker.

I doubt there has been many other actors as impacted by one role as he ever was with Luke.

From interviews, we know that Hamill was a NUT. (In the good way. )
An energetic sense of humor, but having been typecast into wide-eyed earnest epic-seriousness by working for The Director Who Never Owned a Sense of Humor.

The VO roles have finally let us see the nut, he made it an in-demand product, and frankly, I still prefer Mark's Joker to Heath's.

When you fall, you fall hard. Christian Slater works steadily, but he was happy just to make a studio movie even if it was a nothing role in Bullet to the Head.

Man, I remember seeing him in that and being surprised. "He's actually in a studio-produced film?" He's a pretty good actor, I don't know what happened there.

Acting is like any other skill--if you don't get practice you get rusty.

When he needed to hone his skills (1984-1990) after Star Wars he was already typecast.

We'll never know what could have been, but now in 2014--he/we should be glad he's going to be in a high profile project at all.
As a voice over actor I take offense in that comment,
Voice over work in some instances is even more difficult than live action.
In V.O. The actor is at a disadvantage because you have to rely solely on
Your vocal abilities, you don't have the advantages of your body and facial features helping in expressing your character.
And don't forget mark has won Bafta and Emmy awards for his work in v.o.

You never know what can happen to an actor's career.

Robert Downey Jr
Mickey Rourke
Don Johnson
Kevin Costner

Have made comebacks after careers going downhill. You can never predict when the starts align for a has been into a now been.

Sometimes things just end for actors and they have to take whatever roles they can -- Michael Madsen, Michael Pare, Harry Hamlin, Jason Priestley -- but Hamill doesn't lack for voiceover work. Plus you'd have to think he's getting more money for the next Star Wars movie than his last one.
The problem with Harry Hamlin and his wife, Lisa Rinna, is that they have aged poorly and can't act to save their lives. That's why they have a lack of work.

I never heard of Michael Pare.

Jason Priestley has had his moments but he's generally a poor actor. He hasn't done anything good in well over 10 years (which explains his lack of work).

Michael Madsen is actually a very good actor. He needs (and deserves) to get more work ASAP.

Jason Priestley had a tv show for 4 years and he was the star of it since 2010.

What TV show was that? I'm guessing it's not on anymore based on your use of the word was.

It's called Call Me Fitch and I'm not sure if it's done or on hiatus.

He's getting a chance to be Luke Skywalker again.

I'd say that's a pretty awesome second chance for the guy.

Yep returning to his only major role after 32 years is a good start on the second half of his career.

I hope he gets some good action scenes as well as some powerful emotional scenes rather than standing around like Uncle Owen.

Anyone notice that Hamill can grow a great beard? In Slipstream, he looked like a cross between McGregor and Guiness' Kenobis - which is a good thing.
