End of the day it's a matter of opinion. Plus in the UK we don't get channels like HBO. Sure, we get some of those shows on Sky Atlantic but not everything on it is gold. All my shows are split across like 10 different channels or thereabouts. And just to throw it in there I do watch other shows such as Game of Thrones. I just didn't list it due to my OP being about cancelled shows. |

I almost lost it when Almost Human was cancelled. Perhaps the Sci-Fi channel picks it up (I'm not getting my hopes up). I haven't been so pissed off about a show being cancelled since Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles was cancelled (also by FOX).

I've been fortunate enough to be able to smell a stinker before it airs 8 times outta 10, so the majority of shows I DO watch continue on for several seasons. I've avoided all but one (Revolution) from the OP knowing they didn't look that interesting in the beginning and "felt" they weren't going to last so I didn't bother with 'em anyway.
But hey, maybe if I did watch those shows, that one extra viewer in the stats would've kept it alive? ![]() ![]() |

There are so many factors nowadays on whether a show will come back for another season or not.
1) Nielsen ratings - Live overnight 2) Nielsen ratings - Live + 3 or Live + 7 with DVR (and you have to watch the commercials for these ratings to count) 3) How the show sells internationally 4) Streaming deals for the show via Hulu, Amazon or Netflix and it's performances via Streaming. 5) Syndication deals and whether or not it's beneficial to the network if they are the ones who produce the show. We as the TV watchers don't know all the factors in some of the decisions. So IMO, it's pretty narrow minded to get all worked up and pissed thinking why am I dedicating all this time to watch this show when the network isn't giving it a chance? Most of the time, there is more to it than just the 18-49 demos and how well it's doing or how bad it's doing. Sometimes all it just takes a little effort to research a new show, see critics reviews, if it's getting any buzz or not. Then maybe see how it's doing and what timeslot it has & it's competition. You can use all those factors to make a good guess whether or not it will be around longer than 13 or 22 episodes. This season proved that Revolution's decent 1st season ratings were heavily dependent on The Voice. It was dead in the water being the anchor at 8pm for Wednesday nights. Intelligence on CBS had no chance at all being put on Mondays at 10pm against The Blacklist and Castle. Both of those shows were already established hits. NCIS: LA is moving to that timeslot in the Fall, but that show is already an established hit, so it may do better. But again the timeslot doesn't have enough viewers to spread the wealth. we only watch two shows these days. Walking Dead and Once Upon a Time.
It's hard to find time to watch anything else even AFTER recording them. But both of my shows are safe. |

As for shows getting cancelled, it's nothing new. No more or less than the last few years. Stuff will always be cancelled, whether we like it or not. That's part of the business. |

Grimm
Sleepy Hollow Castle Constantine Haven Those are the only shows I will be watching next TV season. Will get the newest seasons of True Blood, Game Of Thrones and Penny Dreadful as digital downloads when they are are released and then a complete series BD set if released after they have ended. I don't see the point in getting HBO or Showtime. |

When your favourite show's lifespan is dictated by the majority, you might as well just roll a dice. We watch with a generation that thinks reality TV and popstar wannabee shows are great viewing. Couple that with the chance that some clueless TV exec will dump something good into a bad timeslot, every show is a lottery. I think you just have to enjoy things while they last, and hope they last longer than a single season. |

Generally speaking, most of the shows that get cancelled get cancelled in May. That's when the broadcast network season ends, and the networks decide what shows are coming back, which shows aren't, and what new shows they're starting next season.

This fall there are four new shows I'm interested in: 3 superhero/comics shows (The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine) and one police procedural (Gracepoint). |
