Schindler's List fits this period though.

Oh, yes.
I'm hoping on standalones for Duel, Sugarland and 1941.

Neat, but like most collectors, I have little use for an expensive collection packed with a bunch of films I already own. Luckily, Universal seems to be pretty good about eventually breaking down their boxes into singles (Hitchcock, Classic Monsters). I'd love a single release of 1941 and maybe Duel.

So we're gonna get "Steven Spielberg: Director's Collection, Vol. 2: 1998 - 2014" consisting of only Munich?

Any TRUE fan of Stephen would already HAVE most of these anyways, so that makes double-dipping for this set useless.

Adding 'Duel' and 'Sugarland Express' was smart in an attempt to make fans double dip just to have those exclusive titles.

But to me, these other films are too big to own in a collection box, they all deserve to be stand alone releases and to hold their own spot right there on your shelf.

Perhaps an individual re-release of these movies with a new cover art signifying a Stephen Speilberg Collection Series would have been a better idea.

I'll hold out in hopes that DUEL & SUGARLAND EXPRESS will get a stand alone release.

By the way, I think 'The Color Purple' should have been in this collection as well as 'Schindler's List'. I HATED 'ALWAYS'.

The Color Purple belongs to WB, this is a Universal set. That's why you don't see many of his other films in here. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Sony), Indiana Jones (Paramount), Hook (Sony), Empire of the Sun (WB), etc.

I see there are 2 boxes! I wonder which of the 2 will be the US release:

(does this mean that the first one is not a book? or is it a vertical book?)

It looks pretty cool, but I think collections like these make more sense when they're made as complete as possible, at least including everything the studio owns the rights to.

The fact that it doesn't, coupled with the fact that I already own Jaws (in a big edition, so no urge to own it twice on the format) and expect to pick up the Jurassic Park movies in a box set with Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World in around a year and a half, puts me off this. Like many others I'll be holding out for single releases of the ones that are, right now, exclusive to this set.

Great news, but I really, really hope Universal include the TV cut of Duel as well.

Awesome news. Confused though, is 1941 a double sided disc (I've never even heard of a double sided blu-ray)? I hope not considering Universal's history of defective double sided disc media. It says side A and Side A for both cuts, and no side B, but did they mean Side B for the director's cut.

I have a digibook of E.T and the Jurassic Park trilogy.
I will sell the trilogy (I don't really need the 3rd film, nor i saw it on Bluray), I will keep the E.T. digibook (I love it, and after all it has subtitles in my native language - Greek - and in the extras!), and I'll buy this set.
Fortunately I didn't buy Jaws so that i would have to sell that too..

I'm guessing Schindler's and Munich are missing because they're rated R. Retailers wouldn't like them being in the mix.

Amen. It's a damn shame, because they were so close. I really want Munich on Blu.

That was my guess.

So once this is released, is Munich the only Spielberg feature not out on blu-ray?

There's still two more TV movies, Savage and Something Evil. He also did a film called Firelight, but I believe that is a lost film now.
