If we didn't last time i'd say it's almost a definite no this time.

Agreed but I actually prefer the 3D package as they will likely only charge £15-18 for it and once you sell off the 3D discs you end of with a pretty bargain price for Extended Edition 2D BD and Bonus Discs.

Looks like I'm going to be importing the US 2D version - would prefer the slimline packaging to match my copy of the first film.

I wouldn't mind a Smaug miniature....

And after that one of Ancalagon. There is the scope in the Silmarillion for an extended TV historical series.

I sure hope so, because this price is ridiculous!

It was £35 which of course was just a temporary price, they have now removed the price but as I suspected they have also changed the title to include 3D.

I am certain it will be a repeat of last year with the UK getting a single 5 disc extended edition release including 3D and 2D with it costing between £15-20

Thanks a lot Indy. Sounds more reasonable at that price range. Although if there is a limited edition figurine and it is of a sufficiently high quality I would be tempted to go for it. I missed out on the Argonath unfortunately.

Just checked the Unexpected Journey EE.

Bought it for £16.99 from Amazon although I only paid £10.49 - it says I got a promotional discount. Can't remember what it was. Probably a Lightning deal.

Sold the 3D discs for £12.70 on eBay so ended up with a free film plus money for nibbles.

I bought the version that came out a couple of months ago but I haven't watched it yet. I went to see this in the cinema and enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to seeing this Extended.

I deliberately held off buying the regular edition, I foolishly bought the last one. Never again. I'll wait for the extended cuts from now on

A lot of you have way more willpower than I. I bought the theatrical Unexpected Journey, then traded it when the EE came out and I've bought the theatrical DOS with the intention of trading it. I've watched in about 6 times on Blu since i bought it and can't wait to see it again with the added footage!

Plenty of stuff to watch in the meantime. Besides, it just popped up on Netflix UK

Desolation of Smaug, or An Unexpected Journey?

Because AUJ has been on there a while.

Edit: wow, just checked and it's Desolation of Smaug. Awesome. This'll tide me over until the EE is out on Blu-ray

Somehow there still seems to be no preorder for the UK version. I am most eager for the DVD digipak, but the Amazon.co.uk preorders are still non-orderable.

And that despite other countries where the SEE is already listed: USA, Germany, France...

Really want the 5 disc edition.
Would always prefer the 2D versions, but there wasnt one for UE:EE, so will get the 5 disc version to match the last one.
