Exactly what I thought. As soon as you start adding a story to it and make it about something else than blocks falling on each other, it ceases to be anything like the game, and then what is the point?

Making TETRIS into a movie is a ridiculous premise, which I'm sure many are excited for just to see what the hell they can do with it. Love or hate Battleship, they integrated the boardgame surprisingly well into the film, even if it was in a novel way.

So my, admittedly snide comment - sorry about that, was at the expense of the fact that anyone poopooing this on the sheer stupidity of the concept alone should just lighten up and laugh with everyone else. It's dumb, but dumb can be fun too.

I was making fun of it in a lighthearted way earlier in the thread but I actually thought you were serious about this being something you'd want to see. My mistake.

I can't think of any possible way a movie about Tetris could be made, let alone a good one, that doesn't end up basically not being about Tetris.

Malick should direct it. There will be lots of nature obviously with not much dialogue. Every now and then some blocks will fall from the sky to tinkling music. Then the nature documentary will resume. Then just about every Hollywood actor you can think of will have a scene for a minute or two max without saying much and then a few more blocks falling and then back to sweeping nature shots...

How about Klax: The Movie? That would be better. More frantic than Tetris anyway!

Its obvious.

Aliens disguised as blocks of different sizes and colours attempt to literally crush Earth under sheer weight of numbers.

Earth's defences have one hope - a giant ship with an invisible gun (or hand) which can spin the blocks around and flatten them before its too late!

Noone has seen aliens disguised as blocks of different sizes and colours before - its original!
