Not the very best of 2014, but I thought 'Lone Survivor' (Mark Wahlberg) was a great release- a good film and a fantastic looking bluray.

You are right, it probably is one of the better films out this year, I can't think of many 2014 releases that top it. I've just enjoyed discovering lots of catalogue titles which it just seems lightweight and lacking when compared against. Some scenes nail the fatalistic humour it's strives for, but the connection between Cruise and Blunt relationship is the most interesting aspect of the film. Unfortunately, unlike Source Code it's not given time to breathe in favour of the action scenes, which veer from quite fun to fairly dull. If I'd come across it without expecting something extraordinary due to the hype, maybe I'd have been less disappointed.
