Um, Jonathan Demme directed Something Wild.

Love me some Fred Ward! Would have liked his mug on the cover as well.

Nothing with Fred Ward? That's a shame.

Agreed. MARRIED TO THE MOB is another good loose companion film, given its Demme pedigree, time period, mood, and shared personnel.

All 3 films feature at least some Florida location shooting...the state where Demme grew up. And, all 3 films have the involvement of Demme and his regular creative collaborators, d.p. Tak Fujimoto and editor Craig McKay, along with producers Ken Utt, Mark Saxon, Gary Goetzman, and Ron Bozman.

Demme and Armitage both cut their teeth working for Roger Corman. Fred Ward, who'd worked with Demme on SWING SHIFT, sent Willeford's source novel to Demme, I assume, with the idea of having him direct. Demme passed the book on to Armitage and took on producing chores.

Here's a very good, informative contemporary review by Jonathan Rosenbaum, which details Demme's involvement with MIAMI BLUES.

I've always considered MARRIED TO THE MOB Demme's most underrated film.

And yes it makes a perfect double feature with MIAMI BLUES.

Vinegar pie!!!!!

hope there are more than just interviews with the two lead actors.

this needs some commentaries and docs and or / extensive interviews.

Especially if they are calling this a collectors edition.

rather good film though

There have been Collector's/Anniversary Editions with no features whatsoever, not even a trailer.

Personally, I'm glad that the two brand new interviews have been confirmed. Going by the name/scale of the movie, this could've easily been a bare bones release stuck with some other random 80s/early 90s flick as a part of a double feature.

My first roommate in college at UCF loved this movie in 1991, he talked about it all the damn time and watched it enough he wore out the VHS tape for it. I never watched it, but I will have a look at it when it comes out.

Fred Ward bought the rights to the book and was originally going to play Freddy Frenger Jr with Gene Hackman playing Hoke Moseley and Jonathan Demme directing. Orion wanted a sexier Frenger, so Ward ended up playing Hoke and Hackman dropped out (Hackman gets a thanks in the end credits). It's unclear whether it was the casting change or problems with Armitage's script that caused Demme to drop out (if you're familiar with the novel you can definitely see where the studio interfered), but Demme was definitely announced as the original director. I'm guessing Ward opted not to contribute to the BD because the deal didn't work out well for him and its failure isn't the happiest of memories for him.

Demme benefitted when Gene Hackman dropped out of the film he had planned as his directorial debut, The Silence of the Lambs.

Apparently, this had a review on DVDtalk for several weeks now - can't believe I missed it. It got 4.5 out of 5 stars for picture quality! Hope the reviewer doesn't suck.

The new featurette with Baldwin and JJL is half an hour long.

Looks very promising.

4.0 is a very high score for a Shout Factory release. I don't think I've ever seen another 4.0, other than They Live (which was a B.S. score, no way did it deserve that much).

Miami Blues looks like it deserves it and I couldn't be happier that I lucked out about two of my niche must-have titles which were released by Shout and probably won't have any other releases don't have messed up PQ.

Great, career-spanning interview with the elusive George Armitage. MIAMI BLUES is discussed in detail.

That's the way he used to look, before the fast living of alcoholism, substance abuse and weight gain took an effect on his current appearance. Besides Alec Baldwin was 25 years younger when Miami Blues was made.

Oh, I didn't know that.
I thought this concerned Daniel Baldwin.

Blu-ray case states that it's in DTS-HD. It is NOT.

It is output as PCM.

What a joke.
