I watched this on YouTube a few days ago and this is one of the weirdest films I have ever seen. I honestly did not like it and I identify myself as a big Fellini fan.

Fellini Satyricon Blu-ray REVIEW

Stunning 4K restoration!

Criterion will have to produce some incredible package between February and December so that Fellini Satyricon does not end up being my top pick at the end of 2015. For me, this is what Blu-ray is all about

The imagery was stunning, the blu-ray PQ is absolutely georgeous. No way youtube does it justice.

As to the film itself...definitely one of the oddest films I've ever seen - at times uncomfortable even if it really wasn't all that vulgar. Perhaps I needed more vulgarity and violence, less young boys dressed as girls. I did a double feature of Time Bandits and this. I barely made it through Fellini. Honestly I'm not a fan of several of his later works (8 1/2 also comes to mind).

Likely the first time I've watched a double feature of two films featuring a minotaur battle though.

This and Roma were my less favorite Fellini's till I saw them in a theater. My 42" isn't gonna do this scope ratio film justice, so I hold on to my memories. That said, having the CC blu, I still want to get the UK BD for the English dub. I read there's a lot of interesting background dialogue the subs can't keep up with, and I'm interested to see the slightly different visual presentation.
EDIT: Checked out some of the English dub on my MGM DVD, not a very good a dub, IMO. Think it's best to stick with the Criterion.

Just a heads up for anyone who maybe considered picking up the new UK BD by Final Cut: it does not use the 4K master which previously appeared on the Criterion and Eureka discs. It's clearly an old DVD-era master, one with a good amount of print damage. It's also barebones.

Would you also happen to know how the audio quality of its English language track compares to that of the Eureka BD release?

As their transfers are almost always superior, a real shame that Criterion never includes the original (or any) English tracks in any non-English speaking BDs, and I've long given up asking them to do so. Ditto zoom enabling. Which is why I usually don't buy their titles. Thank goodness for CultFilms, Arrow, Eureka, Powerhouse, Imprint.
