Probably the only person in the entire film that did much of anything afterwards was Kimberley Kates. There are worse 80'S SOV films out there, but this one honestly isn't too good. The extra features on the DVD are more interesting than the film itself. |

The LE of Hunters is now up for pre-order on Massacre Video's site.
Limited to 200 Hand-Numbered copies. I believe the only differences between it and the regular BD, is a clear BD case and alternate cover art. Not sure if that warrants a $13+ price difference for me. http://massacrevideo.com/site/?produ...dition-blu-ray |

Thus, the story I gathered so far was the international distributor kept the Amazing Mr. No Legs color reversal intermediate and two other prints for the US cut in a storage unit on the east coast that was destroyed or contaminated with salt water during hurricane Sandy's landfall. In the same storage unit was also Fight For Your Life's original camera negative. The post didn't specify other films but it's possible there were... ![]() The print Massacre has so far been relying on to put out a release is a cut French print that's missing a few minutes of footage. The missing footage would either have to be composited from video sources unless prints of the US cut can be located. |

Mr. No Legs is definitely still in the pipeline. A week or so ago I posted that Massacre Video changed their cover page on FB, to the French Title Card for the film.
Recently, they posted the same title card on their IG account, stating that it is coming soon to BD/DVD. |

Got my standard BD of Hunters from Amazon in the mail this past Sunday. Won't be able to check it out until this weekend.
Word from Massacre Video on the LEs for that film are that they will be in this coming Wednesday and will be shipped after that. |

Does anyone have a copy of City in Panic on DVD? The Amazon review mentioned that the Massacre Video version was VHS rip with scenes missing. Checking to see if anyone could provide screen grabs or speak to the quality of the print/cut of the film.

It's not a VHS rip, but it is from a tape master, which is all that exists. I haven't watched it proper to comment on its content, and my TWE tape is buried away in a bin at my parents' house for comparison purposes anyway.

Thanks Bruce for touching on that. Sometimes a tape master is all that you can do. I will definitely check it out and maybe even snag it during the next Deep Discount sale. If you get time or the urge to spot check it, definitely drop your thoughts here. Curious to see if it's missing any scenes. Thanks!

I am watching the Massacre Video dvd of CITY IN PANIC right now and the audio track is horrendous. Every time there is background music or sound effects (which is often), those tracks completely overwhelm all the dialog so it's practically impossible to make out what any of the characters are saying. I no longer have the VHS to compare it to, but there's absolutely no way the audio was mixed this poorly for that old VHS release or I would have remembered that when watching it years ago. Video quality is satisfactory on the Massacre DVD - probably from the 1" or 3/4" tape master in full-frame. Even when there is no background score or effects, the dialog track is STILL way too low. The audio is beyond terrible. A character is making bacon on the stove and all you can hear is the sizzling of the bacon cooking, which completely drowns out the characters' dialog. Another one for the garbage bin.

An exclusive from my Cinema Arcana FB Page:
"A bloody moon... a scream of fear... a night of living hell!" The wait is finally over -- coming this May, Massacre Video give Jag Mundhra's HACK-O-LANTERN (aka Halloween Night, 1988) its highly anticipated Blu debut! In a small California town, Grandpa is running a secret satanic cult, and now that grandson Tommy has reached adulthood, he's brought into the fold as part of a plan to raise their dark lord. However, as All Hallow's Eve approaches, a demon-masked murderer is on the prowl, butchering anyone who seemingly has a connection to Tommy. Who's the killer, and what's their true motivation? Late-'80s slasher bliss created at the height of Satanic Panic, HACK-O-LANTERN is a total hoot from beginning to end -- this is easily an essential purchase for slice-and-dice fans with a taste for the more bizarro reaches of the genre, and one you'll definitely want to program at your next Halloween party. Full of rock bands, dream scenes, impromptu stripping, terrible stand-up, amazing non sequiturs and a general air of weirdness, you can try to describe the film, but actually watching it is an altogether different beast. Massacre Video are pulling out all the stops for their Limited Edition Blu-Ray / DVD Combo (with side-loading slipcover), celebrating the film's 30th Anniversary with a new 2K restoration from the original camera negative and plenty of worthwhile supplements. Producer Raj Mehrotra shows up for a fresh commentary track, there's a documentary featurette with stars Gregory Scott Cummins and Katina Garner, some never-before-seen bloopers and outtakes, vintage public access interviews with the cast and director Mundhra, and even more surprises. A Region Free release, street date is May 9th -- watch this space for pre-order links. "But mom, I like the taste of blood!" ![]() Last edited by bruce holecheck; 03-08-2017 at 06:10 PM. |
