Sorry but I got to give some love for the third one. My and my big brother would watch it a lot when we were kids. Good memories

Umbrella released the first film earlier this year. It's a 'scratch n sniff' version. No idea on the source used or if it's any better or worse than what's already out there.

I would imagine a 4K release in the not too distant future would not be unreasonable considering there is a new film out any time now and that the 1990 original was one of the biggest box office opening weekends of all time (I think that record was only beaten recently).

Great nostalgia for the original film. I remember the hype for it very well. Not so enthused about the two sequels or anything after those either.

EDIT: The Umbrella disc uses the same older transfer. It just has the 'stink o vision' track added to it. Not really worth the money they are asking for it imho.

As someone who should have nostalgia for TMNT 3 (I saw it in the cinema for my 11th birthday), it is VERY hard to sit through now (Hook is another film I saw a lot on VHS which I can barely stomach these days).

TMNT 3 is an abominable 2nd sequel to what I consider one of the top 5 comic book film adaptations ever made. TMNT 2 isn't great either - and is far too camp - but Ernie Reyes Jr is good value and at least it has a couple of fun fight set pieces, not to mention Ninja Rap!

Default Petition Update

Hey all!

Just an update that I have changed from Shout! Studios to pushing for a release from Arrow as I feel they would do the product better justice. I have informed them of my petition as well, and was at a con this weekend and got to speak to several of the original cast, including Judith Hoag, Robbie Rist, Brian Tochi, Kenn Scott and Ernie Reyes Jr., all of whom are in support of the petition and have expressed...disdain towards WB and the fact that they have done nothing with the film despite many wanting to see this release. I am working at getting more visibility on the petition and will do what I can to contact anyone who can get this out in front of more people. It is currently just over 800 signatures. The updated link is below Thank you!

I just don't understand why it's taken so long to get proper releases of the trilogy. Imagine all the deleted scenes we could be watching. Studios really treat TMNT poorly on media for some reason. See how Paramount and Lionsgate have treated the Fred Wolf cartoon on physical/streaming for proof of this.

Anyway, signed. 👍

I don't get it at all either. The fanbase is out there and even the original cast and crew want a release.

Thank you for signing!

I remember watching, and loving, the TV-aired Making-of of TMNT II. Would be great if that would get included.

Yes!! Agreed! Behind The Shells. I still have it on VHS. It would be great to include that, and perhaps reaching out to Brian Henson, Jim's son, to see if there is any unreleased footage or photos of the making of the original suits. Feels like there is likely a lot there that has never been seen or released previously, especially considering that Henson himself was very proud of the work and considered it some of his best.

I'm still not a fan of it but out of the three it's certainly the most cinematic so it has that as an advantage.

I would really enjoy if they managed to include the Barbara Walters interview from that movie. The bit where she questions the Turtles over their mother and Donatello starts squirting tears is hilarious!

In a perfect world they'd spend money to reanimate the Fred Wolf cartoon series. Realistically there's a slightly more cost effective way to process the episodes with AI to remaster it. Either way 80's cartoons are in danger of dying unless some restoration work is done. They just don't want to spend the money which is infuriating.

When the 80s cartoon was released here in Australian on DVD, the quality was appalling; squeezing as many as 15, if not more, episodes on one disc.

The review I watched for the recent complete series in the US shows they don't care:

If there's 15 episodes, split them between two discs; 7 on one and 8 on the other. Or have 3 discs and equal 5 episodes on each.

I've said it in the thread for that release and I will repeat it:
If Paramount/Nickelodeon can't be bothered to put any effort to make a quality release of the 2012 series - an actual Nickelodeon show - then I have no idea why anyone expected them to put forth any effort on a re-release of the original animated series.

TMNT to them is merch and licensing deals. That's it. That's all they care about.

I spotted this picture on Discord recently. It looks like a 4K Blu-ray release is coming soon.

I think there is a thread for it in the US 4K section - 4K coming from either Shout or Arrow, not sure which yet (the person conducting the interview does work for both).

FWIW, Fortune Star (who owns the UK/non-North American rights to the original films) has a deal with Arrow, so the possibility of a UK release isn't that far off the mark either.

Glad you enjoyed it but I still think you were right last time
The only bit I enjoy is the Casey Jones and samurais' bowling scene with Tarzan Boy playing on the soundtrack.
