Completely missed your comment. You're correct, but it would be a much simpler task to port the HD collection that exists than to rebuild the entire first game.
i watched sonys press again. and you are correct. the remake/reboot is slated for the first half of 2015.

Finally some news on this. Though I do swear they did say the game would be out early 2015 to coincide with the movie.

Anyways I can't wait for this. Love the Ratchet and Clank games and can't wait to see what it looks like on the PS4. Pixar graphics

The original announcement (alongside the movie, which is wrapping right now) left things very vague, calling it a "Re-Imagining" which led many to think it was a remake.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/...unced-for-ps4/

It was then said that

Both the movie and game will be available in the first half of 2015.
I guess that means they have up to the end of June 2015 to still be on schedule

Knew I wasn't imagining it. Guessing E3 is when we'll get our first look. Would be cool to get a trailer attached to the movie. Don't see to many video game trailers on the big screen.

I'll be greatly disappointed if Insomniac opts for 30fps again. Hell, when they did with the other R+C games, the visuals didn't look any better from the previous games.

I own every Ratchet and Clank and the notion of a remake is a massive turn of. This is not a series that needs a reboot.

It's more of a re-imagining. New story, characters, graphics, weapons etc but some things may be the same.

I believe they said they are going to change how Ratchet met Clank though.

Well Ratchet wasn't considered a like able character in the first game so I would imagine they plan to bring his character to be more inline with ratchet of the later games.

To do that would be a reboot, or removing the first game from the timeline and replacing it. A reboot would be preferable to that, but it still makes no sense. It isn't something the series needs, nor is it what any fan has wanted.

My thoughts exact. I love the series, but it needs a reboot rather than a remake/reimagining.

I really don't see the point of this thread when there already exists one here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...hlight=ratchet

Insomniac have ALWAYS described this thing as a reimagining so I don't get why this is news worthy of a separate thread. I thought this was going to be about a brand new unrelated title

Quote:
Another person asked why Insomniac wasn't going to release the game in Q1 of 2015. Apparently, the user thought that Insomniac had made a statement declaring that the game would be out in early 2015. Here's what they had to say:

"2015. We never said Q1"
They didn't say Q1, but they did say first half of 2015.

I wanted that. As do many people I know. Of the main R & C games I always liked the 1st game the least so im looking forward to this reimagining.

Coming out Spring of 2016 it looks like...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/...29-2016-in-us/

Quote:
Insomniac Games is also hard at work at Ratchet & Clank for the PS4, a re-imagination of the original game that started it all 13 years ago. The game, out Spring 2016, re-tells the origin story that ties in closely and expands upon the movie’s narrative. It also features several new levels along with reimagined classic locales like Metropolis, brand new weapons and completely redone visuals made possible by the power of the PlayStation 4. We’ll be sharing more on the game soon!
Earlier it was also revealed that the movie will also be 2016 bound, and the voice cast sounds great:

Quote:
In case you missed it, check out this impressive list of celebrity talent joining the Ratchet & Clank cast:
- Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek
- Golden Globe winner John Goodman as Ratchet’s mechanic mentor Grimroth
- Young Artist Award winner Bella Thorne as Galactic Ranger Cora
- Rosario Dawson as Galactic Ranger support team member Elaris
- Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion, Chairman Drek’s villainous lieutenant

Rest assured the voices you’ve come to love for Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Captain Qwark will also be back, voiced by the same actors as in the games. Observant fans may also spot a few special cameos throughout the film.

Aw man, I was really looking forward to both the movie and game this year so that's a bummer. I'm sure they'll both be great by the time they come out though

Thought for sure this game was going to be Fall 2016 as Sony has nothing for Fall 2015. Unless they can get that Uncharted collection out.
