Going by the screen caps, this looks a bit upconvertish.

Upconvert from what? The Resurrected has only been released on one old fullscreen DVD before.

16x9 D1 master(s) exist. I have seen an anamorphic 16:9 PAL presentation of the film from Finnish pay tv movie channel. I have it also recorded somewhere. US dvd is full frame/unmatted.

German BD seems disappointing.

As in: detail levels look akin to DVD detail upscaled to 1080p.

Tried to get the caps close, but I wasn't going to spend the time frame stepping to compare.
The first set is the R1 dvd from Lionsgate, the second the dvd that came with the blu-ray, and the third the blu-ray.

The difference is a significant visual upgrade over the R1 dvd, even though it's an old MGM dvd era master for the blu-ray and R2 dvd and could look much better with a new scan that isn't close to 15 years old. There's plenty of natural fine grain though, too much for it to be a simple upconvert. Reminds me a bit of the look of the 80's Full Moon features blu-rays Tons of extras and a very cool mini-book (though I'll have to learn German to read it), plus hd audio.
Hope this helps.

Wow! Simply wow!

I had no idea this was being released!

Awesome features; I'm ordering it for the English group Audio commentary alone.

Thanks heaps for mentioning this release.

^Got my copy now, too. I posted more shots and a full review/comparison here; but in short I'd say it's pretty solid, but definitely not showroom floor material. Apparently, the transfer is from an older HD master by MGM. It's definitely a big improvement over the DVD (helped a lot by how much the DVD sucked). Of course, with all the extras, OAR and workprint footage (as deleted scenes, not edited into the movie), I'd be super excited to have this even if it did just look like the Lions Gate DVD.

All those features by Red Shirt Pictures, though, makes me wonder if we're going to see other versions of this release pop up in other regions sooner or later.

I asked Scream Factory on their Facebook page about acquiring it for US blu-ray release. They said they can't get it because (they are told) there are "music issues" and what that means I have no idea but I was severely disappointed.

This was a blind buy for me, I've loved about every film Dan O'Bannon has been involved with and his other film as a director is one of my all-time favourites. The package is absolutely beautiful (got collector's number 0002) but sadly I wasn't impressed with the film. Everything from acting to directing and editing seemed quite sloppy. But now that I know what the movie is like, I'll probably enjoy it more with the second viewing. Some of the effects were awesome though, the river scene was the highlight for me.

Finally got around to watching this after blind buying it awhile ago. I really enjoyed it. Thought the directing was good especially with the long takes and odd angles used. My only complaint was that I was pretty bummed when the lights go out during the monster confrontation at the end. Budgetary reasons I'm sure.

Anyone know if the single disc release has the same bitrate as the LE? Seems they crammed the extras from the 2nd disc so its concern.

Extras were/are on disc 1 (BD) in LE. Disc 2 and 3 were movie dvd and extras dvd, I think.

Three-disc set (1 BD-50, 2 DVDs)
New release is one BD50 so I'm pretty confident that the BDs are identical.

Thanks for the tip. I did not know Blu-ray only version had emerged. Damn, no Wendecover though.
