I know. I am planning on getting the complete line of Mondo steels but with these variants I have to get 2 of every title.

It comes waaayyy too late so even if the design is great, I keep my French steelbook with lenticular magnet.

Futureshop should stick to titles that haven't already had Steelbook releases for. Most people who love steelbooks already have the Looper one they did, which was great and superior to this one IMHO.

looks like the variants are numbered and the normal isn't. Boyhood looks to be the same.

I like the regular better over the variant, but the collector in me is telling me to go for the variant.

If it's going to be anything like the Boyhood editions, the variant will be a hand numbered slipcover with a diferent color scheme than the steelbook artwork as opposed to a clear plastic slipcover for the regular edition.

This looks great, bu already having the excellent steelbook FS already released for Looper I may have to pass on this. I agree with everyone else in that they should stick to releasing films that don't already have steelbooks, let alone FS exclusive steelbooks. Seems rather silly, especially when they are asking $35 for this when the film can be found for $10.

I assume it's Mondo making the choices rather than FS. Whether or not FS had a previous steelbook doesn't matter to them since they're the ones ultimately producing/commissioning the art for this series.

I thought the movie was entertaining. I'm having an inner battle. Do I buy this one just for the purpose of collecting or do I get the regular one in the $5 bin down the road?

I guess a Variant means a slip case here.

Mondo loves their variants so not surprised they hauled that practice over to steelbooks now. And honestly I could seem them charging more for variants simply b/c they are different color scheme than the regular (same thing they do with posters). If they are smaller print runs and numbered that I guess makes them worth it to collectors. Personally I got the CAN lenti steel and am more than happy to just stick with that.

I could be wrong, but I thought the Boyhood variant also came with a big extra booklet? It's definitely numbered.

Also, just a little extra frustrating that they didn't release a variant edition of Drive. A little consistency, please?

the color variation is on the photo itself, the slipcover is most likely clear like Drive.

Mondo prints' variant edition are usually the same image with variant colors.

Hmmm... I really like that art design for this one. Normally I don't like the "hand drawn" artwork. But, I also already have the original FutureShop steelbook release of this one as well.

Decisions... decisions... decisions...
