Absolutely fantastic news! This Kino deal is hopefully turning out to be a godsend as I was wondering who'd try and tackle titles like this. It's one of my most wanted.

I'm tired of getting sand kicked into my face at the beach, so I'll be buying this Blu-ray on day one.

Here's an interesting article on the apocryphal "lost" ending, and the alternate beginning. I can't remember what the beginning is on the Midnite Movies DVD, but I hope we get the cut re-release version on the BD, it sounds much better.

WARNING: major spoilers in this link, if you haven't seen the movie!

Woohoo, normally I don't look at page 2 of the forum. Glad I did, missed this yesterday. Saw someone else said they were freaked out by the ending as a kid. Same here. Now that I think about it, it almost reminds of those vids you watch of a room or whatever, and then a scary face pops up to make you jump. I used to own this on DVD way back when, before I went Blu. Glad to have it back.

I remember that this movie was released in theaters in the summer months. Me and a few friends went to see this at a local neighborhood theater in the 60's. I don't even remember if I liked the movie or not but do remember how animated we were while discussing the movie on the walk back home. I also remember that I learned what the term "movies are bigger than life" meant after seeing this movie. It just clicked inside me and I grasped it. I haven't seen this movie since that summer day and look forward to watching it again.

They're certainly keeping Lucas busy! Looks like another winner from Kino, in a year that will likely be chock full of them.

I watched this for the first time today and thought it was pretty good. Definitely Lovecraftian at the end. I'll gladly preorder the Blu ray.

No idea why the embedding code doesn't work, but here's a link to a brief clip of Joe Dante's video interview from the forthcoming BD.

I just ordered 4D Man from Amazon the other day. I've never seen this movie though, and since everyone in the thread seems to have enjoyed it, I'll probably pick it up too.

I remember being very absorbed by this, although I thought it was more Ray Bradbury-esque than Lovecraftian. Strong lead from Milland and a brilliant sleazy turn from Don Rickles. I have it on pre-order (along with an order of the delightfully campy Sorceress)

I also like 4D Man and here's hoping Wade Williams gives it an HD master when his deal with Image expires this year. He has a great library of titles that at this point need upgrades
