That's a great list. Plenty of big sellers there.

Me too because I expect both of the National Treasure movies will be out in 2008 as well.

I would love to get these on Blu-ray, but even if these ARE all Blu-ray titles, it also fails to mention when they will be available on Blu-ray.
That is probably the correct answer. Since, Jungle Book just came out on DVD and 101 Dalmatians is coming out in February (i think) with no Blu-ray release.

Holy crap.

As a father of three kids, ranging from 1 month to 7 years, I can see that I'll be re-purchasing quite a few of these Disney titles over the next 12 months

Of course, I cannot realistically sell off all that we already have in standard form because, well, those Blu-Rays won't play in the DVD player in the Acadia.

I can wait for The Nightmare Before Christmas...with talk of BD-3D, I'd like to see Nightmare in my living room in the third dimension. It was brilliant in the cinemas the last two years (yeah, I saw it last year and this year).

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised to see a little double-dip action with Nightmare. They did it on both DVD and VHS, why not double-dip with the BD?

I would want to see "Tron" on Blu-ray more than any other Disney title.

Agreed. (Well other than Nightmare)
Hopefully the rumors of a sequel moving forward are true so they will have a reason to release the first on blu.
In a bit of an ironic note, the first time that I saw Tron not in the theater was on laser disk.

The Lion King would be so sweet. Really the only one I would buy. The Nightmare Before Christmas would be cool too, but I can't see myself watching that over and over again.

A sequel? That would be cool and interesting to see what they could do with the current state of the art technology. I doubt it would be the same leap forward that Tron was back then unless they did it in 3D.

I first saw Tron in the theaters when I was visiting a friend in Canada. Used to have a some good LDs too like 2001, T2, and Apocalypse Now but I gave them to my brother when I moved.

Just to confirm:
The fact that this's from a Spanish site has me worried...Can anyone confirm we get the ad on the R1 POTC over on this side of the Atlantic?

(You know the drill: If it sounds too good to be true...it's probably an import.)

Wow!!! - Not a title that gets mentioned much.

I didn't see it on the list, but yes it would make a good addition to anyones Sci-Fi collection... a must have in fact for any serious Sci-Fi afficionado.

It is though a deeply flawed picture. The premise of the plot is excellent (a sort of captain Nemo in space). There were some dark aspects to the movie (and the book)... the film would have been much better if these had been concentrated on. The film didn't really know what it wanted to be, it was put out as a family film... serious mistake IMO. Properly focussed it could have been a classic like Alien.

The score of the film was one of the best ever... John Barry at the top of his game (wonderfully atmospheric).

Feeply flawed, but I'm a fan (you might have noticed)

I agree Kirsty_Mc. The ending seemed like a 2001 ripoff and I wish the robot wasn't so toy like for lack of a better word, but I thought Roddy McDowall was great as the voice of the robot. It did have its moments with great special effects. A fun movie.

I also agree about the soundtrack, haunting would be one way to describe it.

Many of these titles have been mentioned previously during the Oct Bash and subsequently in the insiders thread.

Don't get your hopes up too much though as some are 2008 and some are 2009 titles.

There aren't too many examples of Disney screwing up, but this was one of them. The Black Cauldron was another. I remember seeing it at Radio City Music Hall when I was like 13 (?), and I thought it was awesome, the parents of small children, however, were not really all that thrilled with it. Go figure that they'd have "issues" with flesh being ripped from the bones of the bad guy... who'd have known?

I think if Disney puts out Toy Story, Lion King or any of the other "big gun" movies in 2008. It would be a huge coup for Blu.
