I guess I'll get that Platinum Cult version from Germany then.

Approach with caution, see the German Moontrap thread for many comments about Digidreams, Oliver Krekel and DNR. There's also a mediabook from '84 Entertainment but I suspect they'll just use Digidreams discs with the third disc containing the theatrical cut.

I pre-ordered the German edition. If the English one was going to be by Arrow I would have waited for I am a big fan of them.

Please share your findings when it arrives. I really hope we don't have a DNR monster like some/most platinum discs

Great price, it is an easy decision not to go with the German release. Lossy audio and heavy DNR. The UK release will have lossless audio and hopefully will have little to no digital manipulation.

Wonder if the UK will be lossless 5.1 since the German disc will have DD5.1. Is there a original 5.1 mix otherwise I'm happy with lossless 2.0

Sampled the german video. Very soft, dvd like and the 5.1 seemed fake with voice in the surrounds, also very tinny and might be out of sync. Still hope UK disc will make something better

Anyone knows where 101 get their transfers from?

So UK is losing original 2.0? That's bad since the german disc english 5.1 is incorrect, just matrixed in all channels

Just got the mediabook in, and watched the Blu Ray. Loved the film, haven't seen it since the VHS days. Anyways as there seems to be confusion on what is on here, I'll say what I've found. The Blu ray contains I'm guessing a theatrical cut, or slightly extended cut running 1:30:25. One of the DVDs contains a Japanese cut running 1:35:07 and a "Alte 4:3" cut running the shortest at 1:26:43. Not sure what is on the third disc, but I will report when I watch it. I'm now watching the Japanese cut and I'll report any differences. I love this release though. I'm not a huge image expert, but the quality looks pretty good (read: PRETTY GOOD, not amazing, not horrible) and the mediabook presentation is awesome.

Edit: By the way the menus are German that's why it's hard for me to distinguish what version is what. But there is a feature that I believe just shows the extra footage in the Japanese version by itself so that you don't have to watch the entire film to see it. This runs 4 minutes 41 seconds.

Thanks for this. I believe there are two German releases. Whose version is the mediabook?
