Glad I checked here. Was assuming my preorder had been sent by now.

Does anyone know why the remastered edition runs at 92 mins and the old one ran at 90 mins both are encoded at 24fps I've watched both and didn't notice any extra scenes have I missed anything, the new version is an improvement over the older release more grain and not waxy like the initial release, the dialogue is better sync'd on this release and the German dialogue between the couple on the beach at the beginning of the film now has English subtitles

Thanks for the update! The DVDBeaver review didn't compare it to the older release so there was no frame of reference. Glad to know about the subtitles at the beginning. I'm definitely buying it despite owning the original release.

As for the run time discrepancy, I'm curious myself.

Question

Guess I'm out of the loop here.

Did the previous 88Films edition have serious issues?
I have it but maybe need to pay better attention to the PQ.

No issue's it was just a crappy master they were supplied with. Like with alot of Italian films the off the shelf master the licensor gives you are usually crappy.

Crap transfer provided the the licencor, sound issues and the German dialogue not subtitled. What it does have is a major extra not on this new version, but that's the only reason to still want or keep the old one.

Thumbs up

My new version just arrived!

The slipcover is way nicer than the previous edition, that's for sure.

Hoping to have some time this weekend to check this out.

Got mine yesterday, and it's really a nice improvement all around. Retranslated subs (including finally translating the opening scene!), better colors, strong scan... I'm really happy with it.

^2015 blu

^2017 blu, from my full comparison here

...And that deleted scene is cool. I mean, not a big awesome event, but a nice little touch. I kinda feel like they should've kept it in the film, except I guess the characters wouldn't be walking around the island so laissez faire afterwards if they kept it.

Still haven't had a chance to compare my three versions of this yet.

Pretty curious about what Severin are going to add to their upcoming version.

Which I'll be getting regardless!

Severin is doing a release? I hadnt seen that - you got a link?

(I wonder if that means they've got a version of Absurd coming too?)

Just received a copy of the 2k remastered Anthropophagus BD and surprised it played in my Region A player, not sure about the extra's yet they might be region B but the main film plays on region-A players. This was a blind buy for me which was probably a good thing since my timing ended up giving me the remaster instead of the poor quality earlier release by 88-films.

Extra's will play on region-A players - update

Last edited by nvadr; 09-09-2017 at 07:16 PM. Reason: update extra's

Never received my copy of the remastered edition even though I contributed to the campaign. So I sent an e-mail to 88-Films and they sent me one without the slip-cover which kinda makes me upset

Same. I sent them a PM on here on Sept 6. They replied "we are working on this. sorry to not get back so quickly but we will do. promise. thanks for the support "

Still holding out a glimmer of hope that I'll see it show up one day...
