I personally wouldn't say Troll is a good movie but I like it too. I would buy a copy for sure.

Actually the DVD of Curse 2 is the unrated version and uncut, despite the R rating on the packaging! So I don't know where you got that information that it was cut from.

The first film also features an extended/alternate ending sequence that was not in the theatrical and home video versions. I'm not sure whether more scenes were added, but the ending is definitely not what I remember seeing years ago.

Uh, probably the R rating on the packaging. I've never watched the version in the double pack because I own the German release. Nice to know it's uncut, but it's still full screen, so I have no use for it. The Curse is also the incorrect ratio on the U.S. DVD.

I don't think it ever got a theatrical release (according to David Schmoeller, the film was seized by Empire's creditors when the company collapsed in 1988), but it would have been shot with 1.85:1 matting in mind. I'm quite looking forward to seeing it in hi-def, it's got some great visuals and crisp cinematography.

I would've guessed this too, in fact I did guess it. But I just compared a scene from the BD to my laserdisc rip and it is way wider on the BD. This one must've been hard-matted, there is no extra picture on top or bottom of the FS version. Extra bonus, more Cellar Dweller, never seen before!

Thanks for sharing that. I don't have the Cellar Dweller/Catacombs Blu-ray yet but I will.

Got a couple low quality screens that show what I mean. Top is Blu, bottom is my laserdisc rip. Unless they really ****ed up the laser transfer, a lot is missing and certainly not open matte.
I never got to see the legit dvd for full comparison.

Just watched Cellar Dweller. Very charming horror movie. I admit the concept of a horror comic artist's creations come to life was what got my attention (I draw my own horror comics as a hobby) and for the most part, the movie delivered what I expected, even though the subplot with the two women conspiring against the heroine is a bit of a dud. But at 78 minutes there's little that goes on for too long.

Dig the Frank Brunner art used for the Colin character! Brunner's quality varied at times but his art here is in fine form.

The post above me comparing the LD and BD is interesting! There is some picture lost up top, but significant information is gained on the sides. Looking at the caps strictly from a compositional perspective, I think the LD caps have a little too much head space (the floor above the woman and the page with the monster seem like a little too much negative space) but I'm sure there are other shots which would favour the LD's larger amount of head space. There's also the LD missing the woman's foot. If I were to go strictly by eyetest, BD would appear to have the proper aspect ratio.

I watched them both last night. Cellar Dweller is a fun 80s horror movie, although it's annoying how they keep using the same (cheap) trick of cutting to a montage of comic book art almost every time there's any action.

Catacombs is well made but very boring, and barely qualifies as a horror film.

I wish Scream had just made Cellar Dweller a standalone release as Catacombs is dull. Like the above poster said, Cellar Dweller may be dumb, but its fun and never boring

I'm glad it's a double feature. If I had blind bought Catacombs by itself, I'd feel ripped off. Kind of like Ghost Town, which should have been part of a double feature.

"Catacombs" is absolutely dreadful. I could barely get through it.

Was asked to make a custom cover for Cellar Dweller. Useful for those of the right mind whom think that Catacombs is a pile of old crap, and want to use the disc as a Frisbee.

As usual, the quality suffers when shrinking it down to post on the forum.

Alternate custom cover for single Cellar Dweller.

Again, quality a bit shit due to shrinkage.

Both of these movies are blind buys for me, but I've been meaning to buy this disc for some time, and especially so, since SF announced that it will be going out of print this year. Just ordered it from Grindhouse Video. I've had far too many bad experiences, for years now, with long waiting times for SF to ship my orders, so whenever I can get their movies elsewhere, I do. Very much looking forward to seeing these two!

Thanks for the heads up. Placed an order through Grindhouse Video too, since i don't want to miss out on The Curse IV: The Ultimate Sacrifice.

Just need Curse III: Blood Sacrifice now

Man, Grindhouse is fast with fulfilling and shipping orders! I ordered this disc, along with seven others, together, as one big order, yesterday, and I've already received a shipping notification for the whole thing! In my experience, Grindhouse is very good with careful packing, to avoid damage, too. They rock!
