That's just silly...it never works and if everybody did that there would be no game. They don't need to put it out. It's a small potatoes title to them. Only one that would lose out is fans of the game. You should thank some of us who do put out full price. It's what continues games.

Yep, same here. Going to Best Buy when it opens to get my copy and play all day.
Seeing some of the EA Access footage and people playing it, the courses and atmosphere looks amazing, but the gameplay and some of the lacking features make me not as excited. The gameplay won't be able to touch TGC, but the graphics and customization of shirts, clubs, etc will be great. If only we could combine the two into a great game. Oh well... |

Personally, I was reluctant to take the word of EA when they said future DLC will be free, but neglected to provide any details. I just chalk it up to poor project planning (potentially strategic planning too). |

I played this on the EA Access preview on my XB1 and liked the gameplay and graphics a lot. The number of courses and golfers is disappointing, but EA has said there'll be more coming via free DLC and they have also stated this won't be a yearly release, so no 2016 version, just updates to this game. That's why I decided to buy it.

Two, I do play golf games a lot but I have no interest in playing the same eight courses over and over and over as Miguel Jimenez at that. Additionally, being a conscious consumer has nothing to do with "being short on funds". Many of the people on this board make a very good living. |

you really think EA would stop putting out golf games if people didn't buy the DLC? Or waited a few months for a price drop so the DLC matches the $60 price of the game?

Buying something blindly for top money doesn't do anyone any favours, especially if it's an inferior product. EA have had one year off from golf, if they'd served their time productively they could have created a great game with worthwhile content, I don't think anyone would object paying release-week prices if they had. As a rule of thumb, people get tired of buying crap hoping for better crap next year. In this case you're actually getting less than usual. On paper, the included content is enough for franchise veterans to wait for a price-drop or walk away completely. It sounds like a lazy game by a lazy developer, who doesn't really know what golf fans want. If it's the greatest game ever they're certainly selling it in small doses! The main problem with PGA Tour games is there just isn't enough PGA Tour, not enough official tournaments, courses, players, clubs or player customization (remember when you could change your swing?), just think how extensive avatar creation is with other games. We're just not getting enough of the PGA Tour experience. I fully believe EA can make a great golf game (when you get to the course the gameplay is usually very good), the just don't want to, I'm surprised they paid all that money for Rory's endorsement. The budget could have been better utilized. |

I get that people don't trust EA, after blunders like the Battlefield 4 launch, etc., but I'm not sure why they would flat-out lie about free DLC.
http://www.operationsports.com/news/...ntent-updates/ I bet they'll probably give us a mix of free DLC and then more substantial paid DLC. I could see them doing a Masters pack with Augusta. I'm guessing the problem with PGA Tour is it's not like The Show where they just go to one or two organizations like the MLB and MLBPA to secure the licenses. I imagine every course is a separate agreement with whomever owns the course, the same thing with the individual pro golfers. I'm not saying it excuses the lackluster beginning roster, but if every golfer and/or course wants several thousand dollars in licensing fees, it doesn't make much sense for EA to shell out that kind of money for an unproven franchise reboot. At this point it's a gamble for them. Did previous PGA Tour titles sell because of Tiger's name recognition or because people enjoyed the gameplay? (For me it was always the latter). It's kinda how EA's football series is still called Madden after all these years though he has very little to do with it anymore. But would the game still sell if they started calling it EA Sports NFL Football 2016? Who knows. Personally, I think the core gameplay of this new PGA Tour game is very good. So I'm supporting it with a purchase in hopes that they can build on the foundation, whether it's free DLC updates, paid DLC or a new installment down the road. |

Because the only free dlc will be colored shirts and balls. If that wasn't the case they would be upfront about it. No way in hell they'll give courses away for free. Maybe 1 or 2 for goodwill. That right there is everybody's issue.

I think the lack of content is all down to how they see the game and buyers expectations, they're buying short and selling us short too. I think it's a shame that we never got to play a Tiger versus Phil head to head, or try our luck at a proper Grand Slam or Ryder Cup (with all the players' animations)! |

I don't know much about soccer but I'd imagine FIFA has something similar. As far as I know PGA Tour only has the license to its own "brand," and the golfers are essentially "free agents" when it comes to using their likenesses. |

It would be interesting to know what the situation is, I think they can use players for promotions like "These Guys Are Good", but how far that extends outside advertisements is another matter. In the past John Daly, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els along with Tiger have had their own games released. Sergio was used prominently with the Links game.

The putting is pretty bad in this game, but the visuals and most of the gameplay is pretty good. It's really growing on me. Although after a couple of weeks it's going to get pretty old playing the same courses and stuff. Hopefully they support the game for a while.
