And reviewing discs sent to reviewers often have differences, and incomplete specs. The only thing in a review I would trust is technical aspect, picture and sound quality. Only within the latter parts of the DVD and beginning through now Blu-ray era has there been such good quality spec reviews. Hell for VHS reviews screener copies existed for decades with stuff like picture fading out to black with raising or lowering sound and then picture fades back in again. This happened constantly throughout the movie. Some of these tactics were worked in to DVD's the first few years. Also audio on screener DVD's wasn't even a 5.1 surround mix, just plain 2.0, and was missing all other language tracks and subtitles. I had screeners for Armageddon and Good Will Hunting, on DVD and VHS, and both had these issues present. The DVD's came after the VHS by about a year or two and featured the VHS's fading video and audio. Both formats screeners also featured a informant hotline/800 number in case you illegally rented the screener. They still employed many of these tactics till about 2006. Little Miss Sunshine DVD was one of the last screeners I received to check out. Point is there are plenty of us who received 2 disc sets on release. |
