Another big problem with the release through Amazon.es: the first disc, Mad Max, is the old, horribly Americanized audio dub that was supposedly banished many years ago! Soon as I started watching it, my ears cringed at the awful voices coming out of the main characters' mouths. Not sure whether to send the whole thing back for a refund or just switch out the discs since I already own the amray trilogy set.

Thanks for the heads up guys, this is really disappointing news. Guess I will be passing on this for now unless I can find better discs for cheap.

@azbeef: The first Mad Max does have the Australian language track but as I stated above it's only lossy DD 5.1. Still a disappointing release Since my refund is a third of the price I'm going to use that to replace Mad Max 2 with the lossless disc and give the lossy to a colleague who's only interested in the German audio anyway and lossy doesn't matter to her.

So am I better off buying this set or the individual releases on steelbook, does anyone have all three of them and the trilogy sb?

I've not seen mad max 1 in forever bit iirc that American version is shocking. So I don't want that

From what I can gather the individual Spanish steelbooks feature the identical English audio choices that the trilogy steelbook offers:

Part 1:
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (US Dub!)
Dolby Digital 5.1 (Australian audio)

Part 2:
Dolby Digital 5.1

Part 3:
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

What's strange is that the Spanish "petrol can" version of the trilogy did have the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 for Mad Max 2.

The German individual steelbooks are likely identical to the Spanish ones or the French ones. Looks like it's one steelbook batch with an English steelbook cover but local languages on the sleeves.

I, for one, think this makes it twice as disappointing. Not only do we not get a remastered version (from a 4K scan, for example) but in addition the second disc is identical to the first edition with inferior audio and codec choices (Mad Max 2 has VC-1 while Mad Max 1 and 3 have AVC in the trilogy steelbook)

They are shifting stock of the old discs and Steelbook is the usual guinea pig.

It's a joke isn't it.

I have the petrol can for rent dogs and it's a nightmare to protect

I just find it strange that they would deliberately label the sleeve otherwise. The sleeve for Mad Max 2 clearly states DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

If that's the case then can you no bring it up with the manufacturer?

I brought it up with Amazon and got my refund. They did say it was possible to have someone contact the supplier and make sure that replacement would contain the correct disc but I didn't care for the extra couple of days of waiting that would have meant.
