I picked up Season 16 for $14 today, but put it back on the shelf when I really thought if I would watch it or not.

I don't think physical media will ever go away. We'll probably see less of them in the future, sure, but you're always going to have companies like Criterion and Shout Factory who are still going to put out physical media. And I'm sure that when digital media becomes the standard, the really big studios are still going to have special limited edition packages that you can get online for the hardcore collectors like ourselves.

I had a zombie apocalypse dream last night. It was fxxking terrifying. Not the zombies so much. I was panicking trying to download the audio books and iTunes TV shows before the internet failed. If I was relying on st(r)eaming I would have been xxxx out of luck... Of course the downloads would stop working eventually once saved credentials expired

Fortunately most of my entertainment is physical media...

Google, Apple and companies such as are taking over the entertainment sector and it is depressing! There will always be a way of obtaining a copy and that copy getting bootlegged which is where my money will be spent when physical media is no longer purchasable legitimately. Unless I make my own covers and such myself, which would unfortunately take away the surprise of new releases and special editions but I think I could make do. I have been a collector of movies for 25 years and I don't plan on stopping now, especially against my own will due to market failure!

I concur.

I hope they change their mind.

They owe the fans… I own S1-12 on DVD and S13-17 on BD. I would like to have a complete collection.

When they play The Simpsons on a Saturday morning on Foxtel (w/ commercials), I will sometimes pop in the DVD/BD and watch the episode that is broadcast… And then I can skip to other favourite eps.
I don't want to have to turn on my f*cking modem and watch a shitty digital streamed transfer. I prefer to have the physical media and watch The Simpsons whenever I like, on a disc, without having to rely on streaming and the internet.

F*ck Fox. F*ck digital.

I'm glad I picked up the 21-24 on iTunes HD when they were on sale the other month. Fxxx ad breaks. Fxxx station logos. I stopped watching any shows on tv 11 years ago when DVD became a viable option. I'll never go back to any format with that in it.

Simpsons Season 26 is now on iTunes for 24.99 for those of you like me who want an advert and station logo free legal hd copy.

EDIT: A DOWNLOADABLE, non streamed HD copy... :P

In my opinion, in general, I believe this is how the Digital collectors will also be treated down the line by various studios. With certain series wiped before many get the chance to add to their collection. Once it becomes obvious that Digital ownership is a dead duck don't count on having all series of a tvshow available.

Only the Simpsons movie and series 13-17 & 20 were released on Blu-ray. Series 20 being a bare bones episode only rellease to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the show. The other seasons all included a decent set of extras.

I've got them all when they were cheep. Except series 17 on blu-ray as its always been very expensive and overpriced being the latest released.

I guess I'll never see seasons 18 and 19 now, DVD or Blu ray or digital...

Just lazy I expect. I believe this falls into the post cel animated era where they only had SD media for it, and probably didn't think that putting them in itunes in 4:3 SD or just upscaled was worth it.

I grew up watching The Simpsons, but honestly, it should've died with the Millennium Bug.
