Thanks Rob! Best success with 3-D Rarities.

Really enjoyed reading your article on 3D Myths by the way. Nicely explained.

Cool rocket jet car useful for getting past heavy traffic on the freeway.

That would definitely stop traffic and attract quite a few gawkers

Its 8 isn't it ? Creature From the Black Lagoon, House of Wax, Dragonfly Squadron, Man In The Dark, Inferno, Kiss Me Kate, The Bubble and Dail M for Murder ?
That's true, House of Wax 3D is another classic 3D film on blu ray 3D.

Yes. Every now and then I'll see a vehicle that looks like a shoe, or some other object on the freeway.

All known information on the lost 3-D version of UPA's THE TELL TALE HEART has now been added to the website. If you have any more documentation from primary source materials, please let us know!

I hadn't realized that was originally planned for 3D. Very different from other animated 3-D of the era. With all the pans and dissolves and stylisation, it's hard to imagine how they would've done it.

It's good to know that there are people out there prepared to make a thorough search to track down films like this, but extra disappointing when such investigations come up empty-handed.

Robert,

Will Casper the ghost "Boo Moon" episode 3D appear in this collection of 3-D Rarities Blu Ray 3D, along with Mighty Mouse 3D? Those look really cool IMO.

Yes, here's a listing of the complete content: http://www.flickeralley.com/3-d-rari...list-of-films/

Mighty Mouse is a 1953 3-D comic book image.

Cool

Awesome. Casper 3D looks so cool. Same with the stop motion animation in 3D with the Robot, UFO and scientist.

... strange how Terrytoons don't seem to have made any 3-D cartoons, and yet they had the first 3-D comic. Warner Bros, Disney, Lantz, and Famous studios all managed to make at least one 3-D cartoon before the boom passed.

also came across this while googling:

http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php...ys-terryscope/

which makes it seem all the stranger.

Thanks for that link and info. Terry Toon's 3D box was interesting, even though it used still frames to demonstrate 3D, with each showing at 10 cents. I bet if it was full animation it would have caught on in the malls and stores for the 50,000$+ investment he made to develop it.

It might've been more popular with full animation, but it would've cost a lot more than $50,000!

Picturing myself as a kid, I don't think I'd have felt ripped off seeing a 3-D show for 10c, even if it was just static images. Although I'd probably be a lot less likely to go back for repeat showings.

One thing's for sure: slow progress is being made. However, until Blu-ray 3D releases of THE CHARGE AT FEATHER RIVER and THE MAD MAGICIAN are made available, we're unfortunately stuck with the left eye print sourced from a TCM broadcast of the former and the right eye print sourced from, among other things, various television broadcasts and Sony's recent DVD of the latter.

I don't know if you still can, but THE MAD MAGICIAN was available for download in 3D if you have a PS3. They also had the two Three Stooges 3D shorts. It was expensive, around $30 for the download.

Unfortunately those were never available in my locality. It's good to know that they've at least been digitised in 3-D. Hopefully this will lead to a blu-ray release somewhere down the line.

It Came from Outer Space is another well-known title that really should be made available. Clips of it were seen in the recent 3-D animated film Escape from Planet Earth, and the 3-D trailer will be on the upcoming 3-D Rareties disc. Get your skates on Universal! Don't let that free advertising go to waste!

It Came from Outer Space was previously released on home video in 3D by MCA Videocassette, Inc. in 1980. They also released another Golden Age film, Creature from the Black Lagoon, on VHS and Betamax in 3D at the same time.

Bob, I see that GOG 3D seems to be floating around out there as an anaglyph and sequential field 3D DVD. Have you seen it? Apparently Optoma projectors can handle the sequential field display.
