Default THE LEGACY (1979) coming from Scream factory

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...lu-ray/129613/

**SURPRISE TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT!**

We are pleased to officially share that we will be bringing the 1979 supernatural thriller THE LEGACY to Blu-ray for the first time!

Planned release is for August. This unique Omen-esque offering is helmed by Director Richard Marquand (Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Jagged Edge) and stars Katharine Ross (The Stepford Wives, The Graduate), Sam Elliott (Hulk, Frogs, Tombstone)and rock superstar Roger Daltrey (Tommy). It also features many disturbing death sequences (**SPOILERS** For those who know the film, the pool and the chicken bone scenes are the stuff of nightmares right?).

No details to announce about upcoming extras. Pre-order links are expected to go up next month.

We have more new title reveals planned throughout the Spring and Summer so stay tuned!

It would never happen, of course, but how awesome would it be if they used this poster for the cover art?

Fantastic!

I watched this film last night. Absolutely loved it. Some of the stuff is way out there bonkers (though not for fans of this stuff!) but the direction and cinematography are top rate and ground it.

One of the few films directed by Richard Marquand.

Never heard of it, but you've peaked my interest. THIS is what Shout/Scream should stick to. Not average transfers of already released movies.

Definite purchase for me. Great 70s spinechiller that I saw as a kid, with many scenes that haunted me for years after.

Watched this tonight and I always enjoy watching this film. I love the setting. It's a cozy horror film if you will. Katharine Ross and Sam Elliott are both gorgeous in this and perfectly cast.

I thought the transfer looked really good.

That's a perfect way to describe it. It's that English country setting and manor.

I'm actually suprised how much I enjoyed this film, its no hidden gem but the characters are engaging, brilliant atmosphere, nice pacing and good dialogue. The protagonists have agency which you rarely seen in horror movie. 1978 was a killer year for horror movies.

Great 1978 feel, but I can’t help but wish we would’ve seen Sangster’s script left intact with the rundown Detroit hospital and urban setting. Would’ve been a bit different. I do like the English manor setting on the other hand, and the cinematography is fantastic, I mean you’ve got Bush and Humes, you can’t go wrong. The score unfortunately is really out of place in a few sequences which would’ve played more thrillingly if it didn’t have that 70s TV movie wah wah guitar stuff going on, particularly when they steal the horses to try and escape, plays out rather silly when it should be more thrilling and suspenseful. But overall I enjoy it and would love to see it get a new 4K scan and release.
