That would certainly be interesting if it started, though. |

Thanks Pro-B, great review! I really enjoyed it and I know there will be a second viewing in the near future.
Also, should the other Day for Night thread be merged with this one? https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=261606 |

Up until tonight, I had never watched anything directed by Francois Truffaut before. I picked up this and "Jules and Jim" as blind buys. These two films are possibly the best blind buys I've ever made. Absolute masterpieces. Is the rest of Truffaut's work anywhere near as good as those two movies?
This may be the best movie about making a movie I've seen yet. Great release all around, thanks Criterion! ![]() |

yeah as much as I love Day For Night (and Jules et Jim), The 400 Blows is a flat masterpiece.

Watched this last night for the first time.
Definitely liked it...fun movie about making a movie. But to be honest, I kind of understand where Godard was coming from with his criticism of this one. The film feels a bit like an ode to the very cinematic establishment that Truffaut so brutally eviscerated back the mid-to-late 50s. Unlike 8 1/2, does it really have anything to say other than "making movies is awesome!" |

You are mistaken. They don't usually do that. For instance, in 2021, their Paramount titles (Rosemary's Baby, Harold and Maude, etc) went OOP out of nowhere.
