PS3 to get profile 1.1 for Christmas?

They should. Both HD-DVDs have their "In Movie Experience" that pops up a PIP during the movie with content. I think both movies will be soon to follow the 1.1 profile FW. Batman Begins alone will crush HDUDs numbers!

Well since Resident Evil is being released on Jan 2 (will Jan 1 officially, but all store are closed anyway) it will be near that date..

As soon as 1.1 is released the wait is over and the PS3 will also become 2.0 compliant since internet access is already built in!

The only issue I see is J6P confusion with the announcement and implementation of this profile/feature. Sure, the PS3 is covered and luckily that is what I purchased. My only concern deals with a title such as Saw IV that will have internet features and capabilities come early Jan 2008. I wonder if many consumers know that those features may not be playable in some of their standalone units. I'm also finding it hard to understand why CE companies can't release profile 2.0 players. I believe this will lead to much confusion for the average consumer. "Saw IV is coming out but the player you just received for Christmas might not play it. Wait a few months and get a new one that will support that feature." Then again, the argument always is, how many average consumers will know or be able to hook the player up to their LAN. Who knows...
