So is it better than Wii sports bowling? I can't imagine how it is as the Sixaxis is less advanced motion sensing wise than the Wiimote

How is the six axis less advanced? Yeah it doesn't have the IR feature but Wii Bowling doesn't use that feature anyway.

I've played both and HV Bowling definitely blows away the Wii Sports bowling. Putting spin on and curving the ball is much more realistic (and possible) in the PS3 game.

After playing both I agree 100%! I think this is much better than Wii Sport's bowling.

wow. motion sensing and custom music? this sounds awesome. i like the Wii bowling game, but it looks like $hit and is so elementary. the screens from HV bowling look great. i am gonna buy this and have my Wii buddies over. they will leave with their tails between their legs.

I've been playing it quite a bit and really enjoy it. Still not all that consistent but I did get a 192 once (using the Joe character). One thing that really surprised me was how different the lanes are (grip/oil/etc). While that's the case with real bowling alleys I was surprised to see them simulate that in the game. I had been practicing on some fairly oily lanes and then went to the first challenge. The alley was completely different and it took me a while to get up to speed on the new one b/c the ball was breaking so much.

Anyway, really surprised to see a couple of people have gotten a 300!

Been enjoying it quite a bit. Much much much better than Wii bowling which gets old very fast and you can do by just flicking your wrist.

I do wish that you could add spin using the sixaxis and a twist of your wrist when you release rather than holding the R2/L2 buttons. Online play would be great too, perhaps even the ability to setup your own trick shots. Maybe in a future update.

So far 192 is my top score too, got it with the housewife chick (first character). She is pretty easy to score high without even putting spin on the ball, just got straight at them. Can usually get a spare everytime and then the occasional strike. Easy to get consistant 170+ games for completing head to head and tournaments.

Can't believe a guy got 5 300 games already.

This is a good family game. Easy enough for the rubber-ducky-gameplay-level-wife and younger kids and grandparents to join in and not be intimidated. My wife doesn't care for the games with complicated controls, but she liked this one. (She tends to enjoy the PSN games a bit more).

Also, the in-game personal music was great to have. I really missed that feature. If only I had some control of the Music vs. the voice and sound effects. I really hope they'll update this game with this basic feature. This should have been a no-brainer when including the personalized music feature.

The game is not likely to impress any "beer drinking buddies", and is fairly wholesome; and not likely to be much fun for an extended amount of time by yourself (as tends to be the issue with motion-centric games).

A fun family game for $10. I'd recommend it.

Default Spin controls

I hate the spin controls. Not sure why they decided to use the l1, and r1 buttons for controlling the spin, it seems like they could have made the spin dependent on the angle the control is going. the actuall act of swinging your hand to bowl only controls the velocity, and nothing else. I think it would be more fun, if the sixaxis recognized the angle of the control control spin, and what not...

I enjoy the game but I do totally agree with you there - the spin should have been done via the motion sensor.

OK, I gave this sucker a road test last night, and I like it. Easily worth the $10.

I managed a 188 for my best game, but most of them were more like in the 140's. I don't mind using the buttons for spin but agree using the motion sensors would make more sense. It is kind of fun to have a "Wii-like" game going, I'll have to whip this one out for Christmas when the nephew comes for a visit.

Which makes me wonder - it seems like there could be more PS3 games that take advantage of the motion sensors on the sixaxis the way this one does, to compete with the Wii a little bit, no?

Ok, after playing for a week here are my observations...

POSITIVE

1.) It's a great family game! My fiance' and I are constantly playing against each other. Something we have yet to do with ANY game on PS3 thus far. Plus it's great to have a game that actually gets you off the couch.

2.) It's vastly superior to Wii bowling in both graphics and gameplay. The graphics are cartoony but they are colorful and razor sharp. The different venues have so much more detail going on than in Wii bowling. It looks great in 1080p! The physics seem more realistic to me than Wii bowling. The way each ball reacts differently, you can really sense the "weight" of the ball.

3.) Custom soundtracks is a great feature! I am so glad they implemented this! I do agree that a music/sound fx adjustment option should've been included as well.

4.) Online rankings. I'm glad they included this but where's online play?

NEGATIVE

1.) No online play?!? I really hope this comes in an update. How could they omit this feature?!? It would be an absolute no brainer for a title like this.

2.) No create a character feature. This is the one aspect of Wii bowling that I like better than High Velocity.

3.) Like others have said, they should've made it where the spin that you put on the ball was controlled by your wrist motion rather than L2 and R2.

Overall you cannot beat this game for 10 bucks! I feel that it is by far the best deal I've gotten for the buck.

AMEN!! I want a PS3 boxing game where I can hold one sixaxis controller in each hand and actually throw the punches at the screen!!

2K are you listening?!?!? Or how about Midway do another Ready 2 Rumble with this feature?!?

Good question. Was wondering the same thing. And how do you hold the controller when doing the bowling motion?

Sounds like I will have to get some extra controllers for my PS3 now. Wii Sports bowling is a favorite at my place, if this one is really that much better, I may have to make the investment.
