That's a fair compromise; I like having the SD inserts as an option. Hopefully some proper film elements can be found in time. This is gonna be one of the best BDs in my collection.

'LIZARD' UPDATE

We will have the full specs and a tentative release date for this classic Lucio Fulci giallo soon. Like most of the films we do, this one has taken a bit longer to put together than we would have liked. We are currently making a last ditch effort to find suitable film elements for the scenes not included in the Studio Canal HD master. We're also chasing a few last minute extras that may or may not happen, but we wanted to try, at least. Our goal is to create the best edition yet of this film!

So apparently the limited edition has a red case, has an 8 page booklet, and is available a few months earlier? If that's all the difference, I'll still buy it if it's reasonably priced just to have it sooner, but I'm surprised there isn't more "exclusive" stuff. Fine with me, though, I guess that means there might be less competition if I don't jump on the preorder immediately

An 8-page full color booklet with a brand new essay by giallo and Fulci expert Troy Howarth. Plus the reversible covers, which are both exclusive to this release, numbered, and in the red case (keeping with MM tradition). I think those are pretty nice exclusives. But I guess you can't please everyone.

SD, we were unable to track down any actual film elements for those missing minutes.

That's what I'm curious about, too. Especially with the increased amount of traveling I've been doing recently (mainly due to work, although I've attended a fair amount of concerts recently, too ).

A bit of a shame to hear you were not able to find the film elements for the missing bits, but I think most fans expected as much. Would have been the icing on the cake, but as it stands, this is one hell of a release anyway. Looking forward to order my copy of the LE!

Double dip time.

I have the French release with the extra large limited booklet, but I'll be going for the limited edition, for Troy's booklet. The main reason for the double dip though is that this is a complete version.

One of Fulci's best, IMO. Now we need a great release for Duckling (and I'm not talking about the rediculously overpriced German edition). Oh, and Perversion Story and La Pretora please. Somebody. Anybody

Is there any reason to get the French version in addition to this, apart from their booklet? I'd sort of ignored it as soon as I heard Mondo was releasing it here, since their track record is so good. I like the movie enough that I'd buy two copies of it if there's any substantial exclusives.

The Mondo release only includes the extended version with SD inserts, so if you want to watch the film completely in HD, the French is the way to go. I was hoping they'd include both versions, but unfortunately not.
