They fired a relative unknown to put Hayden Christensen in, well that tells me the studio has little confidence in the film itself. I hate it when studios take an interesting concept and then kill it by going for big names when they should know by now that the "name" can polarize people. After his acting in SW:RotS most Americans associate him with emotionless acting. I think the guy isn't that bad but c'mon, he's 90% looks and 10% talent.

I dunno...a part of me is extremely guarded about a film when I see certain things happen.
I haven't seen anything Hayden Christensen been in other than Star Wars II & III, but from what I heard you can't judge anyone's acting abilities from Star Wars I, II, & III because George Lucas was a very poor director in these films. Natalie Portman is a good example. I've seen a few of her movies and Star Wars I-III are her weakest acting. (That I've seen.)

Indeed, indeed. Hayden C. couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

True enough! Lucas is great at creating a concept, but horrible at directing. I just watched "2001 A Space Odyssey" (BRILLIANT!!!) All I could think to myself after was...

...Star Wars is hokey! (All of them. That's right )

I agree. Hayden is award winning and supposedly very good. But it seems to me that his emotional range isn't very wide. Kind of Like Nick Cage, there are some roles he just can't pull off. I think rather that Lucas makes mediocre talent look awful and great talent look mediocre. Jackson, Lee, Neeson, and McGregor all did pretty fair jobs in their roles.

With a little luck we will get some classic one liners from Jackson. He sure can flog them with the greatest of ease.

See "Shattered Glass" with Hayden C. for emotional depth.

I think this looks like it might be good.

I am reading the "Jumper" novel right now. All the previews about the movie made me want to go out and read the book first. I am about halfway thru the book and it doesn't read like the previews make out the movie to look like. Still, I am enjoying the book and plan to get the second book in the series: Reflex.

Most of the time I have read the book that the movie was based on first. There has been a couple of times where I have enjoyed the movie so much I went out and read the book: The first Die Hard movie (book title: Nothing Lasts Forever), Hostage (same title movie/book), and Blackhawk Down (same title movie/book).

As much as I am a Blu-Ray junkie (69 movies in 11 months), I will always love reading books!

Hayden Christensen is not a bad actor, he just didn't have much to work with in the Star Wars prequels, as Lucas is the master of wooden dialogue, as he himself has said.

Looks like it's been getting some bad reviews. Anybody who's seen it please give an honest review, and don't just say it's frickin awesome because it's going to be blu-ray exclusive. I was planning on giving this one a go this weekend. That or Diary of the Dead but it looks like it's going be in limited release.

I saw it and it was terrible. It was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. I actually groaned when Sam said "Those are his Jump sites!" You know those awesome looking fight scenes from the previews? well those were literally ALL of them. It was the first movie I ever wanted to walk out on in the theater in the past eight months. So after the movie I went out and bought the book. Will read it after Oil! But at least it had the new Indiana Jones trailer.

On Haydens acting-
He did pretty good. He showed a little more emotion than normal. Except his accent kept switching.

Well, I disagree with you. I just finished reading the original book (published in 1992) and saw the movie last night. They used some of the storyline from the book and then added several other factors. I ended up liking both the book and the movie.

I thought it was a pretty good action sci-fi movie. Could it have used a little more background? Heck yes. But as is the case in almost all of the Harry Potter movies, the movies leave stuff out to make for a faster story. Hayden did an all right job for his character.

There were plenty of fight scenes. How about the battle in the desert where the bus comes flying in! Sam Jackson was a real pain-in-the-ass to the Jumpers! I will probably go see it again at the theater and will for sure pick this up on Blu!

yeah but that wasn't anything new. That was shown a billion times with every preview for the movie. Not only that but they cut about three seconds off of that scene. It didn't show him in slow motion like the trailer. I might change my original statement to "It was mediocore." because your right. It wasn't terrible. Epic Movie was.

That out of 112 ratings. Are they critics or average people?

Well I don't know about the rest of you but after seeing it yesterday I can say with a straight face that I'll be getting it on bd when it comes out. Everybody has their individual taste, mine was I thought pretty good. Special effects were great and I do like Mr. Jackson.
