Always wanted to see this. That first poster as a slipcover would be great.

That film came out just at the right time for me (I'm the same age as Jodie Foster) and I went to see it at the cinema several times.

I can't imagine this film being made today. A 13 year old who
[Show spoiler]smokes weed, drinks wine, has sex and who kills people
and yet she remains entirely sympathetic.

It has the plot of a thriller abut it feels like a character study and a coming of age story and it celebrates it's outside characters, which I responded to as a kid. It's almost like a bad seed/evil kid type thriller from the kid's POV where you see her side. And I think we all dreamt about what it would be like if we were left to our own devices as kids and could do what we wanted.

I caught the film in HD on TV a couple of years ago and it still held up well, mainly because of Foster and it's strange atmosphere. It's a film which is always unpredictable of where it will go next. The only thing which lets it down slightly is the terrible wig Foster was required to wear. Not sure why they couldn't have gone with her real hair.

Big thumbs up to Walt and Kino for making this one happen. Excellent film. It's sold out now, but Disques Cinemusique put out a CD of Christian Gaubert's effective piano score a couple years back...the Japanese LP from the mid-'70s goes for big bucks.

I'd be interested to see people's guessesfor this title, though I fear it would appear somewhat disrespectful to speculate given that someone's health is involved. Whoever it is, I hope it is just a temporary concern. My first thought was Panic in Year Zero, though thankfully it seems Frankie Avalon is in good health given that he's currently touring.

My fav cover art is the second option of her outline. second choice would be good for the reversible cover art but it isn't bad I'd never seen that alternate before. either way I can't wait for the BLU.

Hi, I explore this movie in every thinkable detail for some years now maybe I can help. In 1975, before TLG, Jodie Foster made three films, which in chronological order were The Secret Life of T. K. Dearing (early spring, just around the corner were she lived), Taxi Driver (summer) and Bugsy Malone (summer through autumn). The later script demanded for quite short and bleached blonde hair. When filming for TLG begun about two month later her hair was nothing like Rynn from the novel (Well, in reality Jodie Foster isn't anything like her but created her very own character) and so the wig came in. In fact they used three or four different wigs. And if you look closely you will also notice there was some experimenting with lighting and make-up because the look of her face kind of changes from one scene to another. In a strange way the movie has about five different Rynns.

Please tell me there won't be any DNR or color timing tinkering with this film. I've seen this film many times over the past 20+ years, on TV, VHS, DVD and even HDTV. It has a very nice 70's look to it, well-lit, with natural color tones and grain. It wasn't dark/moody or teal. I'm really hoping this one gets a nice release true to the original look of the film. It deserves it.
Absolutely! Technical details would be highly appreciated. Is it a new scan of a possibly better film reel or based on the same master MGM HD airs? Did somebody check what MGM has in their archives back from AIP->Orion times? I know at least two scenes didn't survive the cutting room. I also know the 1978 documentary 'Americans' ep. The Film Star feat. Jodie Foster used behind the scenes footage from TLG. I'm pretty sure no 100 minutes version ever existed. I know whoever talks Foster into discussing this movie from today pov will be my hero. Because no journalist ever did since 1994.

Haha I had a little conversation with them, it has a few mistakes and for the inlay they used an age old picture of a pseudo bootleg version from the internet. They were not very friendly French when I tried to explain there is more about the Japan LP than just noticing it has duplicates. But yes, I understand the CD is better than nothing. Besides, real fans own this...

[Did you know the novel is made from a play?]

Years ago I talked to a screenwriter, he tried to pitch his TLG remake to Paramount. I said Damn, hope this won't ruin it. He wrote that for todays audiences it needs more blood and gore. Yuck. Good he obviously wasn't successful but who knows. I mean I doubt you will ever see a perfect conversion of the book, with its sensibilities and poetry. And that Gessner/Koenig probably did the best if the deal says you cater to the average AIP audience. While in reality there was close to zero US money in TLG.

A few words about her cast: Some hundred girls audioned for the role. Among them the forgotten Lilibet Stern who must have been close to get it. But Gessner and producers of course knew about the talented Foster (In her book Melissa Gilbert wrote, Jodie Foster simply was everywhere back then)

And so it happened Scorsese invited Gessner to the studio when he did the color gradation tuning for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, in 1974. Now the decision was clear, "weird" Audrey had to be their Rynn. What means nothing less than Jodie Foster was signed to TLG before Scorsese signed her for her Taxi Driver breakthru. According to TLG's director, he knew she will go to super stardom and get Oscars. In fact the Saturn award had been her first major prize.
I always assumed that she wore a wig because her hair wasn't long at the time, it's just that it's such an bad wig. Still, I love the film and can't wait for the Blu.

I haven't seen this movie in over 30 years, but I do remember it quite well. It is a good movie. Jodie Foster always have been a good actress, even as a child. There are certain people who were born with a gift from God to be an actress or an actor (like the late Bette Davis and Joan Crawford) and Jodie Foster is one of them.

Great film! I'll definitely be getting this one when it's released. Glad to see it finally coming out. I traded off my DVD copy awhile back with the hope this one would be on Blu.
