Unlike you, I preferred the first (although I agree it was slow and over-long), possibly because I watched this after seeing "The Maze Runner" and it felt like the exact same movie, albeit with some more spectacular FX.
I'd agree the FX were impressive and for me the 3D worked, but the story and dialogue just seemed tired and lame. And I'm getting rally sick of "whiny brat" females being heroes of movies like this who suddenly magically transform themselves right at the end. For those worrying about this being the middle film in a trilogy I actually thought it did quite well as the conclusion of a two-part movie with a satisfying conclusion (albeit with a few cliff-hangers that can safely be ignored to lead into the next "story"). |
