Sure I have an opinion.

The guy makes a lot of money so what, I am sure he earned it. Does he have kids to leave it too!

Looked like he had an amazing Home Theater to me

If the collection was 15,000 Pauly Shore movies I would say he had a problem. You should see the looks that I get when people find out how much I pay for each Sideshow and Hot Toys figure. People like what the like. Personally I think that people who collect Hummel figurines should be committed.

So you weren't telling him how to spend his money, you were 'suggesting'

Cool.

Mind blowing collection, must be nice to have that much disposable income. I'd have a memorabilia room as well.

Salt and pepper shakers that will never see a grain of salt or pepper, stamps that will never see a letter, coins that will never be spent, action figures that will never be played with, baseball cards that will never be opened...not only do people collect a lot of goofy stuff, a lot of times they don't even use the stuff the 'right' way.

Who cares.

You hit the nail on the head.

I'm guilty of buying food and soda items for the boxes/cans (themed collectible sets) and I never drink the soda or rarely eat the food. I just the other day bought a box of Wheaties with Steph Curry on the front because I wanted to display the box on my kitchen shelf next to my mid-90's Michael Jordan boxes. I didn't even think once about donating the food, I just got rid of it. I am a terrible person.

I think you guys are missing the point.

This guy is going out of his way to publicly brag about this titanic collection of movies that he never watches.

Therefor it's fair game to make a value judgment about that collection.

...doesn't mean that value judgment applies to anyone who collects anything they don't need or use.

I put it in the same vein of people who have money and collect a massive amount of cars they cannot drive on a regular basis or ever but have them for the sake of having them. I'm not going to bash someone for having money spending money on something they may not use.

I just think it sounds like because of his job he thinks he should have a huge movie collection to show off to people which is fair enough

When you design theaters like that for a living, I think he's free to buy films for collection only purposes.

Forbes did a piece about his collection. Different outlets do pieces like this all the time. Car collections, inside looks at private planes or extravagant home theaters or spas or whatnot. Is everybody who ever participates in something like that engaging in 'rich guy douchiness'?

And the people taking it upon themselves to judge to how this guy is spending his own money have also gone out of their way to make those judgments publicly.

Does that not make those judgments themselves 'fair game'?

I think it does.

I'm not going to bash those people either.

...as long as they don't do video interviews bragging about it.

That doesn't even make sense.
