I like the resolution of L vs. Kira but from the point where Light goes lights out for however many episodes, the narrative just drags until he recovers his memory. I like to think the remaining back log of episodes as more an epilogue for people who need to see good conquer over evil.

I still have maybe a dozen or so left, but the pacing after the first act really hurts the narrative.

Maybe I should get into the mangas and finish it that way? Are they superior to the show?

No, it is not identical. The second half of the anime was a rush job. They turned important secondary characters into background characters, which also hurt Mello's development. The manga is vastly superior to the anime and the ending is way way WAY better in the manga. I just don't understand why they didn't do the year later epilogue in the anime.

BTW, Attack on Titan's manga is also better than the anime.

I think the show compliments the manga in certain areas (Attack on Titan). For instance, I liked the show placing the training section from the back end right to where they would have taken place. I have no particular favorite between the two platforms, I was happy overall with the story.

It added a plot twist, those are always fun

The feature films that are included in the Omega Edition are the recap animated films Relight: Visions of God and Relight 2: L's Successors, right? I would assume so. There are three live-action films as well, but they're kind of terrible.

I can't tell when something has a gotanime discount anymore on the new site. It says "Not Eligible For Promotional Discounts" does that mean no gotanime discount, or no affiliate discount?

Edit: What the heck is going on with RightStuf? It showed one price, then when I was about to check out, the price got jacked up.
It showed $53.89 and then at check out it went to $69.99. So I backed out of the order and I'll wait a few days for RightStuf to fix whatever broke.

I went ahead and ordered. I was charged the full price of $69.99
I submitted a ticket to get the price adjusted.

Blargh. My enthusiasm has dropped.

I'm hoping they'll prove me wrong, though.

Just started watching this on netflix last night and I dig it. Definitely interested in picking this set up, though probably not until the price has gone down a tad. But hey December is a ways away so maybe I'll pony up the dough for it by then

Will this be available anywhere else? $20.46 shipping to Germany is a pain in the ass...

Got a reply today, RightStuf corrected the price for me.

Thank you for contacting us. I have corrected the amount on that order. There was recently an error in our system that caused this and this actually happened to quite a bit of people. Let us know if you have any further issues.

Tempted to order, but I will hold off until hearing about how shoddy the upscale is.

Well the DVD looks pretty good on my 55" LED/LCD. The Blu-ray can't look any worse (although Sailor Moon was pretty bad with the overuse of DNR; Sailor Moon R fared better, and no noticeable 'ghosting' like on the first season).

I have the UK fancy Collector's Edition with the booklet and I'm very happy with it. Besides, I hate the series finale so it's not something I'd want to watch again unless they were to rewrite that episode and make Light as
[Show spoiler]God
.
