Out of all the shots in Mad Max: Fury Road, the weakest one is the start of the end credits.

I've always heard of photograph-type single images referred to as "stills" whereas "shots" can be inclusive of a sequence... but hey, what do i know

If that's the criteria for the thread (which wasn't stated if intended),

Yeah, that makes sense. I definitely didn't go to film school or anything.

Still vs shot vs sequence all gets somewhat confusing.

It's no biggie, I just didn't know that's what was intended by the OP then if that's what he wanted the thread to be or not
I didn't go to film school or anything either; just thought thats how it went from a few film classes I took on the side for fun I could be remembering wrong though lol

Jesus, it's simply a fun thread. Forget all the technical terminology and enjoy.

Not insulting anyone's opinion, as it's all subjective, but I hated that group shot in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It stood out to me as bad CGI, with awkward body movements. It worried me, as it was so early on in the film, and it came off as trying too heard to get a hero shot.

I loved a lot of the opera scenes in M:I - Rogue Nation, but there aren't too many stills online for it yet.

Also, The Age of Adaline has some of the best cinematography of the year but I couldn't find any good stills.

Genuinely sorry about that, Astro Zombie. I wasn't impugning your ability to count, even though that's how it sounded.

I actually meant that you and I must define "action CGI sequences" very differently.

Scott: He sent me.
Laura: One man.
Scott: "One riot, one Ranger." You ever heard that?
Laura: Leonidas, King of Sparta... when a neighboring state would plead for military aid, would send one man.
Scott: Well, there you go.
Laura: You ever hear that?
Scott: No. I think we went to different schools.

What you are referring to is a 'frame' or a 'still'

A 'shot' is a seemingly uninterrupted take, which can be one half second long, or even hours long (but for those like Birdman or Rope clever editing tricks and visual effects have to be used to disguise the cuts).

Can't find a hi res image of this...but this shot from Tom at the Farm was wonderful.

He's sitting at a bar, and the neon lighting that is coming from behind the bartender lights his face up in such a great color. Plus the composition of the shot was great too. Loved this film.

I think most of my favorite shots/stills have been posted.

The opening hero shot from Avengers: AoU is my favorite of the whole movie. Sorry if that makes me sound like an unsophisticated idiot, but out of the movie, that one stood out to me, CGI and all, because it was the one moment that had all the characters together and genuinely looked like a comic book brought to life. The rest of the movie didn't do much for me; seemed too chaotic (especially during the Hulkbuster fight).

Mad Max: Fury Road is certainly full of great shots. I was practically watching out for the one with Max on the pole and everything exploding behind him; it's superb choreography and it looks fantastic, imo. I also love the shot with Furiosa screaming; the image alone carries phenomenal emotion and impact.

I would also add these from the movie as favorites of mine:

I know there's quite a few more - like the shot with the red-hot brand coming towards the camera, or the War Boys holding up steering wheels - just can't find them on the Net. May have to get some screencaps later and post 'em.
